Jake is gonna be missed terribly. He was one of my real close friends, and he never failed to make anyone laugh. Please keep the crude comments away from this forum because they are innapropriate. Jake was NOT drinking. He made a mistake and it cost him his life. But he will always remain an awesome guy in my eyes, no matter what anyone says. We all love you Jake, and my heart goes out to both families. You'll always be in our thoughts, and you will be greatly missed. RIP bro

Reading this article made me cry. My prayers will be with there family and friends. May they RIP they are in a better place now. This is why I think they shoud raise the driving age to 21 and we need to start educating our kids that driving a real car is not the same as driving a car in a video game.

Raise the driving age to 21?

Why punish responsible young adults who drive every day without incident?

Are you telling me all the young troops can't drive a Jeep but they can die for their country?

Maybe before someone can buy a "sick" Eclipse, they should be forced to attend a maturity/responsibility course?

How frustrating!!! That is what the 'older' folks are feeling - what a waste of 2 bright futures. WHEN will kids learn speeding kills? I didn't know these kids, but I do have kids close in age to them and can't begin to imagine their families pain.

My heart and prayers go out to these families, the friends, their schools. I hope you can somehow find peace and comfort in this difficult time.

To the kids - PLEASE don't let your friend's passing go without meaning. You have more of a voice and power than you know. Use your voice, your power and your hard found wisdom to save anothers life. Keep their memory alive and don't take the same chance to have a tragic. Share this tragedy with anyone and everyone you know who may forget - stop them and yourself from taking the chances that could cost them their future.

Yes raise the age of driving. There are more irresponsible young drivers than responsible.

Kids, please, SLOW DOWN AND WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS!!!

I've responded to too many crashes of seriously injured and dead teenagers lately, and it's not even prom season yet......

My heart goes out to both families. I am a mother of two young children and I can't imagine what it must be like to lose the "gifts" God gave you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope the families of these children can try and cope without listening to the ignorance of other people pointing the blame on things they should have done. S*** hapens and it hurts a lot of people. Save it for another time. Not now. My prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.

That attitude is exactly what is killing our teens. "Save it for another day". This IS the day and this IS the time to discuss with your teens your digust over drinking, speeding, not wearing seatbelts and driving! This IS THE BEST time to talk to your teens. This IS the BEST time to exclaim disgust for the lack of respect teens have for driving.

I pray both families will get through this. Parents shouldn't have to mourn the loss of their children.

Not all teens have a lack of respect for driving. I think driving is a determination that needs to rest with the parent, once they've become of age to drive. When I was a teenager if my parents didn't deem me responsible to drive they wouldn't have let me get my license (and I'd like to note that yes, I've been in an accident...I was hit while sitting at a light waiting to make a turn by a high 40 year old in a van.) Likewise, I've been on numerous motor vehicle accident calls with my fire company to know that it isn't just the kids (and there are plenty of responsible, respectful teens on the road.)

It isn't just the teens that need the talk.

I have 2 daughters that attend Liberty, both knew these 2 kids. I hate to be able to say, I told you so but here we go again. Every year speeding, drinking, not wearing seat belts takes lives of our future adults. Bright kids, starting to find their way in life ends too soon b/c of a split second bad decision. To all of the friends of these kids, please do let this loss not be in vein, learn form their mistake, and keep them in hearts forever. To the families, I cannot imagine your pain but I hope you find the strength to get through this.

My prayers go to the parents, family, friends, teachers, and co-workers and all others that were touched by these 2 bright aspiring young people who were called home to be with the lord. I am so sorry for all of your pain and loss.

Better yet parents...don't buy your children cars...if they want one have them get a job and buy their own.....would keep a lot of very irresponsible children off the roads and out of a lot of trouble....hard work never hurt anyone!!!! Quite spoiling these children!!!!

Raise the driving age to 21?
So we'll all have to share the road with people who get their drivers licenses AND go out and get drunk in public for the first time on the same day?......I dunno about all that.

There are bad drivers of all ages. If we're really going for 100% safety, then lets just get rid of cars all together and go back to riding horses everywhere. Oh wait, someone might get stepped on. Nevermind, we'll all walk. Ohh..waiitt...Billy just tripped and sprained his ankle! Everyone wrap yourselves in bubble wrap and pillows and crawl to work!!!:P

All joking aside, this is a very sad story.
