Hmmm, is any one surprised? Certainly not the level-headed people that have been trying to explain that the girl drove recklessly.

Not one bit surprised, Tek. The blame rests squarely on Bailey Goodman.

you are a ridiculous; five girls died and you have no mercy- who the heck do you think you are to say who should be blamed you don't know the first thing about blaming someone when you were not present during this accident- yeah you have an opinion but say it with some mercy and respect five innocent teenagers are now gone.

Hey, I'm sorry those five girls lost their lives; truly I am. But that doesn't change the fact that mistakes were made and that is the reason they were gone. Like it or not, those mistakes were made by Bailey.

I'm sorry but I'm not buying the text messaging factor as being the cause of that accident! Think about it. When you're passing somebody on a dark two-lane highway, what are you concentrating on at the very moment you are in the processing of passing that other vehicle? Do you honestly think you would even change the station on your radio at that exact moment? I know I sure wouldn't! I'm not buying it.

Many young people today, myself included, think they can multi-task just anything anywhere at anytime. Surely you've noticed that.
My heart goes out to the families of the students. However, I hope this serves as a warning sign to the other drivers on the road - young, middle aged, and old - that your eyes and ears should be concentrating on driving. There are WAY too many people using their cell phones while driving nowadays.

I will be the first to admit that I text message while driving too but not on a dark two-lane highway going 55mph at the exact moment that I'm passing. Maybe AFTER I completed the pass but not during the pass!

Well, thank god for that. I'm sure you're a safe driver -- IN YOUR OWN TINY LITTLE MIND.

Lay off the text-messaging while driving from now on, okay?

I admited to text messaging while driving but I didn't say that I do it all the time or even that I do it often. I usually only send a text message while I'm stopped at a red light. I type text messages without looking at the phone, just like I type at a computer without looking at the keyboard. I am just trying to put myself in Bailey's shoes that night and I honestly don't think she was text messaging or even reading a text message at the exact moment she was passing.

Now is is a degradation of sensibility if I ever saw one!

What happened and how the problems began cannot be determined because all witnesses inside the vehicle will never speak again. What is certain is that doing anything else while driving always poses some risk of distraction and human error. We have all been guilty of this in some way or another whether it be eating, changing cds, dialing a phone or text messaging.

A well known fact of youth is that many times limits are pushed beyond common sense for the sake of showing off by being the risk taker. Sometimes that risk costs people there lives. But, as I stated, it cannot be determined EXACTLY what happened in this sad case.

is it really necessary to be arguing as to whether or not you can text message while driving without it becoming dangerous?!?!

seriously. can't we just take from this a lesson that life is short and we need to love the ones around us.

honor the angels by remembering them for the lives they have touched in the short time they had. rather than sitting here arguing about text messaging while driving and the last 30 seconds of their life (they were much more than those 30 seconds), honor the girls and remember the girls by LIVING YOUR LIFE in the real world. it is a big world with so many things to experience, so many people to meet, so many lives to change.... they will never have that chance again, so let them live it through you. make the best of what you have in front of you......let them watch over you and protect you.

i also am concerned that kids these days are texting and driving, but rather than arguing about it here. DO SOMETHING with this knowledge that you have time to comment this forum with, and spread the word to help keep the rest of our children safe.......thats what the angels would want
