Ignore the standard meathead response from semper fi (gotta love people with no medical or pharmaceutical background chiming in)

The most common course of action is first seeing a primary care physician. After a referral is given, you'll most likely be evaluated by a pain specialist (tests full range of motions and limitations on your movement). An MRI and CT scan are always ordered to evaluate the need for surgery, chiropractor, etc, and to verify an actual physical condition. Suspected nerve pain is tested for differently but that isn't what is suspected here.
Physical therapy is usually the first course of action, along with ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or a prescription NSAID or TCA. If narcotics are later indicated you'll be started on a low dose of an appropriate medication and the physician will titrate up dosage conservatively. Most physicians specializing in pain medicine follow this course of action not only to assure the patient is properly assessed but also to free themselves of any liability associated with malpractice (doctor shopping, etc)

Well yeah, keyword is dollars since the feds have shut down so many of the pill mills that used to operate in Ft. Lauderdale and surrounding areas. Ironically I bet the economy suffered a bit after the state began it's RX monitoring program considering the parking lots would be chock full of vehicles from all over the east coast.

Thanks for making me feel like an idiot! First time in any sort of a forum or online place to see what other people think. I get it you think i'm clueless and permanently dull-normal. Glad I reached out to see if anyone else has experienced this as well. I have nothing to hide and nothing else to say other than thanks for making me feel like a retard who is not a part of the in crowd. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS WORKS. Now I know not to ever put my email on here again. 2 years of agony, I reached out to see if anyone else has experienced this for some support. I hope someday to be as enlightened as you Mr. Walton so I can make other feel like crap too! I have heard putting other people down makes you feel good about yourself. Just never have chosen to do it. THANKS AGAIN

Most people have the common misconception that controlled substances can't be written with refills. FTW is correct in what he's getting at (schedule II drugs cannot have any refills). Most people automatically think of opioid analgesics when narcotic drugs are mentioned, but benzos, sleeping aids (zolpidem/Ambien), some anti diarrhea meds, Lyrica/pregabalin, etc are all in different schedules and can be given certain amount of refills depending on the state.

FTW......that started ( vics being rescheduled) January of this year but it has not yet been moved to the Schedule II class......I just read it all yesterday. I think they want it done by July if I'm not mistaken. Like I said, I don't think hydro should be a II But remain a III.

Real narcotics such as Oxy, Percocet's, Hydromorphone do NOT get refills. And hydrocodone is a joke for real serious pain.

You Guys see what I started! all Just because I was wondering if anyone else out there felt the same way I did. Did not need this guy jumping down my throat and calling me an idiot and moron or whatever word that had a negative conotation to it. This guy Sam must have had a dictionary next to him while he was ripping me apart. When all I wanted to know was if anyone else has experienced this. This is my first thread ever, but I feel like it turned into quite the discussion.

Oops, sorry for info, YOU CAN NEVER GET A SCHEDULE I NARC. Those are like heroin, opium, & the like. All others, ie: oxy, morphine, phentanyl, are schedule II narcs and they cannot have refills or be called/faxed in. Only time a doc can fax is if prior auth oks it and doc mails them the rx. I have actually done this but I personally dropped off the script for a patient. You're not suppose to do it like that but there were circumstances & the small pharm allowed it.
