Time Warner Sucks

Spectrum has no customer service people available to explain outages throughout Monroe and neighboring counties. Additionally, they have no page up for a repair schedule.

They tell you, on their website, to dial 6-1-1 on your T-W cable phone to contact customer service. THE CABLE IS OUT. No dial tone. Are they screwing with us?

We need competition in Monroe County. Ridiculous pricing, slow but very expensive internet (relative to many other areas), lousy programming and outrageously bad customer service.

Pre-recorded programs on DVR won't play, because DVR needs to see a cable connection to authenticate. DVR is DOA.

No wonder Time-Warner, now Spectrum, is rated as the second worst company in the U.S., behind another cable company, Comcast.

Refuse to pay your portion of the bill for the duration outrage. If T-W pushes back, threaten to get the NY Attorney General's office involved. He is already moving forward with one lawsuit. Let's add another one.

The only way to send a message is not paying your bill.

Everything else (like complaining to a customer service rep) is worthless, and a waste of time. They listen attentively, and don't care. They're on to the next call. You squandered your time.

Contact Schneiderman's office to complain about T-W. He is the only person in the state on our side.

I just dumped TW and I'm so happy. I was paying almost 170. month, without premium channels. I had home phone that I tried to get rid of and they told me if I did it would cost me almost 230.00 a month, I couldn't believe it. I got rid of cable last week and went with Direct TV. That was the best decision I've made in a long time. Even the cheapest plan, which I have, at 50. a month has all the channels I need and used to watch with that crappy TW. What a rip off they are! During the outage, I know of at least 3 people who are out with TW cable. My dish is working amazingly well and the picture is wonderful. I should have done it years ago. More people need to get rid of TW.

As soon as Greenlight fiber optic gets to my neighborhood, I'm dropping them totally.
Between the internet and the over the air antenna, every show or movie is available. That you would want to watch.

Greenlight is a great idea, but try to get them to do anything. That has to be a front for something. They're sure not doing fiber.

I finally bought a digital antenna (as opposed to an analog one, the blue shirt at Best Buy said analog was cancelled worldwide), and it provides better reception of local channels than T-W provides. HD is much crisper and more vibrant (tech terms we aficionados use).

I will drop T-W fast if I get used to local programming, using Amazon FireTV, Netflix etc. I need a good internet solution, and I'm done with T-W.

Time Warner has had a strangle hold on people in Rochester. I think now that direct tv and dish tv are coming to town that stranglehold is loosening up. I had time and their prices are way too much for the service they provide. Most of the channels they charge you for are not watchable. They are terrible. I dropped them and now I have Direct, so much better without the outrageous prices. Cut the cord, you'll be happier.

The problem is town government. They grant T-W an exclusive franchise to operate (competition-free), and don't hold there feet to the fire, because T-W pumps a lot of money to them. We, the subscribers, suffer. Franchise areas should demand high quality, and be willing to terminate their contract if complaints escalate.

I'll bet they contracts haven't been reviewed and evaluated in years. The towns only concern is the revenue stream doesn't abate.

Dish and DirecTV have been around for over 20 years...people have been condition to think that cable is the best option.

Between the Internet and a media center, you can set up your own "home" cable company. With DVR and on demand features...it takes some effort on your part.

It is likely well worth the time, based on how T-W Spectrum hoses people. Our cable/internet bill is nearly $200/mo. We are getting very little value for that money.

T-W Turbo internet (50/5), at a premium, is lower speed than our relatives in California - with COMCAST BASIC - that get 75/25 in their standard cheapo package. Why? Competition. Faster internet is everywhere out there.

There is a fiber company that offers 500/500, and is not real costly.

Wish Greenlight would stop worrying about the city, and pull fiber to the east side. I've given up on those people.

The fiber is already there...pulled years ago by the Ma'Bell.
Their business model, smart one, is to only connect neighborhoods with a high demand for the service. Keeps the costs down for infrastructure, not employing a full sales dept. or a fullservice dept. Most of the work is done by subcontractors.

It think the end game is, to be bought out by a larger provider like Verizon. Once they reach a substantial market penetration.

That's accurate. We have a fiber line running down our street. It does belong to Verizon, and supplies two local colleges only. No FIOS for eastside residences.

My issue with Greenlight is that you can't call them, they communicate via their website, and it's not interactive. Greenlight is in the dark ages when it comes to insuring confidence, and potential customer interaction.

If T-W offered a reasonably priced up/down higher speed (like a minimum of 100/50, or 200/100), I could live with it - repeat, at a reasonable price. T-W would hose us for a slight increase, guaranteed.

T-W has one mission, to maximize their profits. Everything else is incidental. They suck as a cable/internet vendor. Frontier, I understand, is worse (slow speeds, terrible service, lots of outages).

I'll bet they will get a lot of equipment back when people can get to T-W. Cancellations will be rolling in.

We used a cheapie Amazon antenna and it worked great. Local channels came booming in. I'm ready to say goodbye to T-W, too.

All part of their business model to keep overhead low...At some point, their going to be forced to have a dedicated support/service department.

That why people are cutting the cord, going with services like Hulu, or off the air broadcasting. Spectrum just keeps hiking their price, and gives you 60 unwatchable channels mixed in with the 10 you want. Their customer service is worthless.

Dropped Spectrum because what is on pay TV today is a joke and uninteresting at the very least and im so tired of that shit. Had 2 slimline dishes in the barn put them back up one pointing at 97W and other at 125W hooked up to a FTA jacked up box with also iptv and ontop of that im pulling in 50 channels with the huge aerial antenna on my roof. Im getting over 300 channels with this setup and porn channel but some channels are not english but still interesting to watch.
