How foolish, many good people smoke. Many smokers started when young and have never been able to quit, others started when in the Armed Services. It's the smoking dummy, not the smoker we would like to see done away with.

Consumers are hardly clamoring to eat trans fats.
The government's involvement only needed to be one of educating the public what the effects of trans fats are, and why and where they are used.
I never needed a law to make me buckle-up, either.
They used to make and test brake pads at a GM plant here in Dayton, where my dad worked, and later where I worked... They don't have to crash too many dummies in front of you before you voluntarily wear the things.
As far as the intrusiveness of the seat belt laws, the public roads belong to the government, so they dictate how they are to be used. They could pass a law that all cars can only be one color, or from a single maker, or even a single model. That wouldn't bother me any more than the state requiring that I change plates to the newest style when the old style was just fine, thank you.
But you're right, the trans-fats ban is an unwarranted intrusion of government into the free market which was already turning its back on the thing banned.
I never said a trans fat ban was an unwarranted intrusion of government. Matter of fact I belive trans-fat should be restricted. You were in an area of work where you could see what happens without the use of a seatbelt. Most young drivers have no idea, and a lot of older drivers are to dumb to think it out. It's much like with smoking, people with brains and power have to help protect all of us from idiots.

I'M GLAD TO SEE WEGMANS TAKE THIS STAND AGAINST CIGARETTE SMOKING.
NOW IF THEY CAN ONLY GET THEIR EMPLOYEES FROM HANGING OUT IN FRONT OF THEIR STORES ON THEIR SMOKE BREAK. I OFTEN WONDER, DO THE EMPLOYEES WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE THEY PREPARE FOOD AFTER THEIR SMOKE BREAK ? YUK!!

It is the right of the people to smoke and It is true that they charge more for cigarettes than other places but I think it is wrong saying that it is bad for the children it is saying it is bad to smke but it is o.k. to drink well drinking is wrong Tell me how many people have been killed by someone soking? THousands have been killed by drunk drivers! I am so tired of all the talk about how bad smoking is and that second hand smoke kills well if that was true then most of us would have been dead long ago! What is bad is the chemicals that theses plants put in the air we breathe that is what makes people sick and end up dying from. My grandmother never smoked a day in her life but the mill she worked in was bad for she ended up dying with lung cancer. Well I coul d go on but I will stop here. I think I have made my point! Teens are ging to try different things thinkyou did when you was a teen.

That is great they aren't selling them anymore - for whatever the reason. It is a filthy and selfish habit that not only causes damage to the smoker but also to all of us non-smokers that have to deal with 2nd hand smoke walking out of buildings AND looking at all of the cigarette butts on the ground wherever we go - because so many smokers treat the world as their ashtray.. not to mention all of the young children & teens getting into smoking.
Yes, A lot of smokers are trashy, chuck their cigarette butts left and right. It's that same group of people who also toss most of the other litter. They have no self respect, why shoud we think they would care about others

"Tobacco Drug is Spupreme Weapon of Mass Destruction." THAT would be the big headline if the conservative media weren't such W HORES for the tobacco criminals. Why did Wegmans or anyone else EVER sell the tobacco drug. That made them accessories to MURDER!

Wegmans did the right thing and stopped the sale of cigarettes to the nicotine addicts...

The only "w hores" to the "tobacco criminals" are the smokers themselves...

Last I checked cigarettes were legal, not crack so that comparison is "cracked". Geez smoking cigs is already outlawed virtually everywhere. I used to smoke and quit -- wasn't easy but I did it -- otheres try many times but cant'. If people want to smoke in their own homes so be it. If people want to quit they should get gov't help -- which BTW was the so called purpose of the mega billion tobacco settlement, which all ouR wonderful politicians have p***** away on pet projects.

Out law the stupid things. They cause more death and illness than crack and herion combined. If they don't outlaw them I hope the prices go so high you have to mortgage your home to smoke.

Yeah, and if they did, watch how high the gas prices would go then! And everything else that gets taxed because the government would lose that tax income and cry poverty. They've already decided that gas tax moratorium would cost the state something like 600 million dollars just over the summer, so the state is thinking about an extra $100 tax rebate check instead because it wouldn't cost as much.$100 wouldn't fill my tank even once.(Would buy a couple cartons, tho.)

Thats right, haha I don't smoke. Have never even tried one. It never made a lot of sense to me. I have sure changed my driving habits though and if my boat does go in the water this year it sure isn't going to be blasting down the lake wide open. It will just sit in its carriage at my cottage and we will look at it. lol

IF you can even GET it to your cottage by then! I can see a lot of people keeping their boats in dry-dock this year!

I sincerely wish I could say the same as you about smoking. I got hooked when I was fifteen, a kind of rebellious era. My parents both smoked and both died of smoking-related diseases, I watched them go and still try to justify my own behaviour. Yes, I am stupid.

But you can quit...
If I can do it, so can you...
I haven't had a cigarette in over 4 years and I don't miss it...
Now, I'm one of those annoying anti-smoking people...
