Of course we do,not a surpise at all. Quiz, what does NY-NJ-CA all have in common besides being the highest taxed states? They all are welfare states.Could there be link there? I kinda think there is.

Over the past 20 years the citizens and companies of New York have paid close to 1 TRILLION dollars in federal taxes - that were redistributed to other states.

Now it seems to me...

If we have gotten back all that money of ours instead of it being handed out to other states... that our local / property / similar taxes wouldn't have to be nearly as high as they are...

I found this hard to believe so I did a Google search about it. It turns out that you are right, the high tax blue states like NY do subsidize the lower tax red states.

I think the Federal Government needs to equalize things a little better so that our taxes don't need to be this high.

Where I think it really gets interesting is if you actually crunch the numbers and show folks what they really mean...

Let's look at it...

A population of around ( high estimate ) 19 million avg over the past 20 years in NY state... 1 trillion dollars paid to the federal government by NY citizens / companies that was then redistributed to other states...

If New York had been allowed to keep that money then we could have completely ELMINATED ALL STATE AND LOCAL TAXES - including property taxes - for 8 of the past 20 years !!!

- OR -

We could have REDUCED STATE AND LOCAL TAXES - including property taxes - by something like 40% during each and every year for the past 20 years... effectively making NY state one of if not the most tax payer friendly state in the USA !!!
