I don't mean to pick on this man or his family, but at a time when so many people are struggling, I think such a display is a pompous, idiotic, slap in the face to many.

shut up, youre ignorant and have no clue what youre talking about

you bitch about lights but no one did a damn thing when obama spend trillions on the auto and bank bailout

the bank bailout alone cost more than the entire history of nasa's budget

you want to bitch about excess, focus on the real money moron

You're right, I just get in bad a mood from time to time. It's great that some people can afford to put up 26,000 lights. Merry Christmas to all.

Your ignorance and inner-breeding shows by starting out with telling the person voicing their opinion to ''shut up''.
Why the anger & name calling?
Then you take a comment about Christmas lights and make it about Obama and spending????? It is overkill. Hundreds of lights dont look good. Neither do all those mismatched displays you see. People run out & buy every crazy light and decoration they can, just to try & out-do others. Those blow up things are guady and so commercial too. What ever happened to a tasteful, simple light display - depicting beauty - not a 10 foot elf that lights up!!!!!

the started off with "I think such a display is a pompous, idiotic, slap in the face to many."

so if he can speak that way about someone elses decisions for their home, i can speak that way about someones opinion

the persons main complaint was about cost and spending, sot hats got aLOT to do with obama, you cant bitch about a few hundred dollars when BILLIONS are being squandered, you dont have a foot to stand on

and who the hell are you that you can tell others what they should or shouldnt have on their homes?? it doesnt matter WHAT YOU LIKE MS

its not your home, its not your money, its probably not even your neighborhood

last i checked we were still supposedly free in this nation, yet daily, socialists, fascists, communists and idiots are trying to infringe upon that!

and if you think any of my posts may be vulgar or disrespectful, i dare you to read 99 percent of the other comments on this forum, you'll come back and think im a saint in comparison

sorry to burden you with facts

ms informed is what you are, misinformed because the op complains about struggling, if those hundreds of billions used in the bailouts, trillion plus to be more specific was used PROPERLY, people wouldnt be struggling

yet instead of complaining about that!, there are complains about christmas tree lights

sorry but thats absurd and disgusting ma'am

If a privet citizens want to put up a large display that cost them money, fine. I don’t have to pay for it and if they can’t afford it then they have to deal with the power company. Now when it comes to the displays that the City, County and State put on, that is what should be stopped. My taxes are paying for them to run these lights and I for one do not think it is needed being in the money crunch we are in. I would rather see that money go to the “Snow Tax” we will all be paying soon. This also goes for the people on “Government Assistants”; they too should not be able to put up a display that will cause tax monies to help pay their monthly bills. Bottom line, if you can’t afford to pay for it, doesn’t use it!

I don't the too much money is spent powering a few christmas lights, grinch. Bigger fish to fry. Like putting a sod roof on city hall, chasing crows, building a giant bus station instead of using the current RTS HQ, etc.

ANY monies spent should be looked at. No matter how small or large the bill is, it still needs to be looked at. Everyone is looking for that giant amount of money that can be cut and be everyone’s hero. Well a lot of low hanging fruit will fill a basket very fast if it is removed from the tree. Meaning, if we cut the items that do nothing for the good of the community and redirect that money to where it will do the most good, things just might get a little better. Hell, come the 21st, we might not have to worry about anything at all.
