Prosecutors: Man Faked Evidence In Hit And Run

Prosecutors said after hitting and nearly killing a cyclist, John Stenzel of Yates County tampered with evidence to try to cover it up.
The victim, Kevin Royston, lost most of one of his legs. He is struggling to regain the athletic life he once lived.Im in prison, he said in an interview
John Stenzel was arraigned on two charges when the grand jury indictment against him was unsealed in court Wednesday. The first charge is leaving the scene of an accident where there was serious physical injury.

Stenzel is also charged with tampering with physical evidence. Tantillo said Stenzel stuffed deer hair or tissue into the damaged headlight of his car to make it seem like the damage was caused by him hitting a deer.

Kevin Royston, was able to prove he was wearing a deer skinned riding outfit at the time he was struck ...
