Letter: Wegmans should renew commitment to city

Full story: Rochester Democrat and Chronicle

The true headline is that Wegmans has over the years closed every store within the borders of the city of Rochester with the exception of East Avenue.

Gee Ms.Fisher maybe you should go to the stores in the city and see what problems they have with shoplifting and the damage that is done to them before you say Wegmans should commit to the city. It is great to tell someone else they should lose money and what they should do unless it is your money and property, right? I am sure that if you had the money and time to open a store in the city you would, right?,not! Do you really think that Danny Wegman would pass up making a buck any way he can? I don't,it isn't in his DNA. Here is a clue, all companies are in the business to make money not lose money Ms.Fisher. Easy question,O.K.?,would you buy a house and invest large amounts of money into it while all of the time you know that you would be losing everything you put into it? It is the same for any business owner with half of a brain. Just saying.

If Wegmans opened up a shop on, let's say, Lake Ave then it wouldn't be the same Wegmans. Wegmans prides themselves on customer service but yet a Lake Ave Wegmans would have to have security at the door, posts so that you can't take shopping carts out of the store and RFID's on all the meat, diapers and Enfamil with sensors at the door. It wouldn't be Wegmans, it would be a dumbed down version instead. And then guess what, there would be cries of racism and Wegmans would have to suffer the backlash of the PC crowd. Who needs it?

We know you hate the city and everything about it, but must you come here everyday and rant about it? You really are a miserable bigot. Why don't you go sit on the park and feed the birds?

Misery loves company.

Here we go again with giving the food away for free. What is with this free handout mentality? I can see how this can be appealing from a birds perspective but, by the tone of your reply, it seems that you are making the guy on the bench out to be some kind of loser.

Can you now see how you have created a metaphor between a loser feeding birds on a bench and building more Wegmans in the city? Wegmans would be giving away food for free and that would make them losers.

Then you finish off with the racist remark which mimics my exact post above.

After all the B.S. costs & headaches Wegmans had to go thrue for the proven Park Ave location for over ten years I am surprised the didn't pull out of the city altogether.
I do think this is the last Wegmans you will ever see built in the city and rightfully so.

In the future you will see more businesses follow the Genesee Brewery's lead and say stop the B.S approve it or we will spend the money elsewhere.

No, none of us needs your help in any aspect.

I don't think that you are in a position to help if anyone needed it.

The Legacy at Clover Blosom near by in Brighton took ten years from start to finish.
Ten years of B.S
Citys or towns, the B.S is unbeleivable and then add on all the state crap, regulations, fee's ect.
Mark Four Construction should have been able to build the Legacy in less than a couple of years not TEN years of BS. Creating jobs and tax revenue.

New York is not a good place to do buisness and Wegmans for one has learned this.

Because then I would look like you and insist that Wegmans move more stores to the city even though it makes no sense from a business perspective...but I wouldn't care about logic because I would look like you.
