Ok this is sure to cause some responses.!!
So many young kids look up and admire our local firemen and do they really want to see some not all having to many beers during this annual fireman's carnival.
Take the parade night on Wed while some firemen drink responsibly not all of them do. Sure they are of legal drinking age , but what message does it send to the young people of Greece when they see guys in uniform pounding beer in the festival tent.
While these guys are to be praised and applauded for their loyal service to the town of Greece and other communities, but at what price ??
The fire dept. has to make big bucks off the beer tent area but its it time to review the message that people drinking beer send to young kids of Greece.

I do agree that sometimes at the local firemen carnivals the drinking does get a bit out of hand. But lets not pin it on the volunteers as they have an image to hold , it usually is just the local drunks that can spoil the fun for all.
In most cased the adult drinking area is clearly separated for the rides and the games area that does cater to kids. But yes they could do away with beer and wine sales if they wanted to send a message about drinking . Adults can still have a good time without having a beer with friends.
Overall not a bad idea to do away with the beer garden idea all together.

Although I agree that drinking should be limited I will say that the Barnard FD is owed all of my respect. They pulled my wife and animals out of my house when it was on fire some 10 years ago. That being said I pose another question. How do we control the crap that the carnival brings to the neighborhood? This neighborhood was so nice when we moved here in 03, since then it's gone to crap, more and more violence and as I understand it there was a stabbing at the carnival. The crap needs to end there. Sadly we are selling our home and moving to a crap-resistant neighborhood in a much more expensive area. I'm thankful that I can afford to make that move but saddened for the many friends that I will be leaving behind to deal with the crap. And what's up with the new "corner store"... Really sorry blowing off steam because I feel like the crap is pushing me out of a neighborhood that I like and a house that I love!

Let all them whites drink, lets all them whites drive, let all them whites run and try to save each other with the jaws of life, so we can call them all hero's.

Really... Whites... Shallow! Clearly you haven't seen the diverse makeup of the neighborhood.

That is just Rhonda running off her/his racist mouth using a different name again. Pay no attention to "it" as "it" is nothing but a race baiting troll.

Clearly you haven't stood in the beer line at the barnard carnival.
