Why are the store owners at Main & Clinton so rude?

I swear every store owner at the retail space along Main and Clinton is an effing ayehole. Every time I walk into that corner store to buy a drink the guys behind the counter stare at me and give me dirty looks. One time I walked in there and they literally followed me around the store (which is like 10 square feet). The other corner store at that block is similarly rude. Another time I walked into the Hip Hop fashion store to buy a winter jacket and the guy was being extremely rude and sarcastic with me, even refusing to tell me how much an unmarked item was. When I walked out without buying anything he mumbled under his breath something along the lines of "effing f''got." Even the Family Dollar gives off an unfriendly vibe. The retaurant at the corner also has treated me like crap. One time I tried to walk in and they shut the door on me saying it was closed when there were clearly people standing around in there.

Why does the retail space at Main & Clinton create such a hostile environment for customers? It makes me not even want to shop there. It's gotten to the point where I will walk all the way to St. Paul or even East Ave just to buy something to drink.

Maybe, just maybe, they have been robbed, customers shop elsewhere and the are generally in a hostile environment. You think that could be the reason?

NAW, it is because they are sick and tired of the trash they have to put up with downtown.

%90 of people are rude and hostile in that area. It is just the area in general. People downtown for the most part are just inconsiderate in general.

It occurred to me that, after reading your touching post, you may be the problem. If it were one store employee I could understand your disgust for that store... but when every store in the area is giving you the stink eye, it is likely your appearance or attitude.

It's a drug front. Nobody is expecting you to buy clothes there.

What was your first clue the fact that it s a clothing store downtown or the fact that it is a hip-hop fashion store.
