Corfu firefighters said the man was charged with DWI, then released from the Genesee County Sheriff's office. Instead of calling for a ride home, he called someone to follow him home.
He ended up way off of Route 238 in the Town of Darien. The person who was following him called 911.
Brian Schollard, Assistant Corfu Fire Chief, said, "Apparently somebody came to meet him, and instead of that person taking him home that person drove their own vehicle and saw him go off the road."
Schollard added, "Five in the morning, it's very frustrating for something like that that's one hundred percent preventable."
Firefighters say the man was conscious when they got there, but not alert. He was taken to Strong Hospital by Mercy Flight with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.
We need to have a special "Rhonda Award" for people this DUMB.
