I think a 10 year old child can play outside without their mother next to them and 8:15 is not that late on a Saturday night. Kids just don't think when they are running and playing, it happens so fast. An unfortunate accident and glad it was not serious and she will be okay. Drivers need to remember to go extra slow down streets and watch carefully for kids that are playing.

Sadly having a child run around at any hour on Jefferson Avenue unsupervised is not advised. Hopefully as the city continues to upgrade the area someday that will not be the case.

See the difference of the comments between when a person in the City is hit by a car to a person in the Burbs??
But racism does not exist.

and the family confronted the driver at the scene. What a surprise! don't blame a driver for your kid's ACCIDENT.

I'm with you amerks55! Their first concern was NOT for their child but to place blame where it didn't belong, go figure!

Jefferson Ave. should be bulldozed. If Ariel Sharon was Mayor, he would have done this years ago. ( If he wasn't on a ventilator)

Why do you think it should be bulldozed?
