The NAACP has been traditionally silent on this matter. It seems that, besides a few white liberal outlets, you don't have many advocates.
After 100 years of freedom to mold your destiny, I would think you would be better organized to handle these situations. Oh well. Maybe a protest march in support of the boy.
If you are referring to the civil war which ended in 1863 ... there wasn't any real freedom, which is why they had the civil rights movement in the 1960's ... and even then, what rights the whites gave them, they gave begrudgingly.
