Piccone, a Time Warner Cable employee from Gates, said he has seen so many dogs and cats suffering from starvation, neglect and squalid living conditions while working that last February, he and his wife, Laura, founded Providing Animal Welfare Services. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to helping these animals, especially dogs.

“Their lives are so short. It’s really sad,” he said.“The average life for a dog in the city that lives outside, unvaccinated, unseen by a vet — two to three years....

The Piccones said the funds will be used to assist and educate animal owners in Rochester and hopefully end the cycle of early deaths of abused animals.

Pretty sad when people from the suburbs have to help and teach city people how to treat and care for there pets properly.

The amount of abuse is almost unbelievable.

People on public assistance (welfare/food stamps) should be banned from getting pets after going on assistance and loose there benefits if they do.

Why should hard working tax payers pay for the TAKERS (contribute nothing) in society to have pets..

I was thinking the opposite, people that work hard and fall on hard times sometimes have to not only worry about their family, but their pets too. There is no place that I know of in Monroe County or the surrounding counties that is willing to help with pets. If you know of one, please let me/us know.

I said " after going on assistance"

Now to your question, no unfortunately I do not know of one.
I am a big supporter of

" Scottsville Veterinary Adoptions, the Rochester area's no-kill humane alternative to pet adoptions."

http://www.petadoption.cc/index.html

I was "was" a supporter of the no kill shelter in Batavia NY but they were downright nasty and rude on a couple of occasions over a couple of years.

My support/donations from now on goes to Scottsville Veterinary Adoptions.
