Yes it is quite intersting.... not interesting as most educated people would assume.
Good thing the cops caught him and not the Meth heads/Crack heads/coke dealers..... either way it'll cost 40k a year to put him in jail.
Ask for better laws, marijuana is the least of our problems.
oh well keep those privatized jails going.... profits not cleaning up the streets!!!

"""a serious drug bust""
I can't remember the last time we had a "serious bust" in the City Of Rochester.
Seems all this time, its white people in the burbs that are dealing all the drugs.

what a YAWN!!!!!!! a half pound of maryjane sounds sooooooo serious? lol
2oz's is what they're saying? the average pot head smokes that in a week!
the only thing "serious" about this pot bust is that the canandagua p.d grabbed up $6000 to throw into their coffers and they gotta justify it with the "seriousness" of the bust ;)
the guy probably sold a car or something? we'll never hear the REAL story of the money though..i'm sure.
marijuana prohibition is just plain ridiculous.

The police made a mistake. Half a pound is a very small drug bust. Since he was down to his last 8 ounces but had 6 grand cash, I am guessing he was ready to re-up. He could have led you right to his supplier, and that may have been a big drug bust.

Um....If He had been dealing in those areas for 20 years what took so long for someone to do something about it? Sounds kind of fishy to Me. Obviously Dealers are living everywhere these days, not just in the ghetto areas of Rochester. No one wants to think that this kind of activity goes on in their Suburban and rural Neighborhoods. But it is. Good job on getting this one, now on to the next one!

its great for the most part people realize prosecuting marijuana users is a waste of time
the authorities need to change their policy soon and stop wasting money or with the new medical marijuana stance by the federal government they are going to find themselves emblazoned in controversy and public outrage
especially while meth use is rising and we still have heroin and cocaine problems
i say quit wasting time with marijuana, legalize it, medicalize it, and spend the resources getting rid of and dealing with the real problems our society is facing
most people dont realize how ridiculous this really is though
add up all the man hours and costs associated with investigating and performing the arrest and surveillance, lets not even talk about incarceration costs
the numbers are atrocious and the authorities need to wisen up
they lost the alcohol prohibition but they wont give up on this fight, and this prohibition has lasted since the 30s
over 8 decades worth of funds has been wasted on this substance
take the money from those 8 decades and put them towards a different cause, we'd be moving around in flying cars on mars by now

half a pound for 30 or 40?
are you sure you know what youre talking about because those numbers would be outlandish
and old man, its obvious you cant teach a old dog new tricks because marijuana as a gateway drug is old ideology that has no factual base, at best it could only be considered due to the government deciding to lump it in with real drugs such as the ones you spoke of
there are those who use marijuana, then there are those who are criminals, those who abuse cocaine and heroin are criminals, those who use marijuana are smart, especially the ones who dont abuse it
whats even more criminal is the fact that marijuana is still be prosecuted and is still in with the same category as the other drugs discussed

Ok, I am someone who works full time, I own the house I live in, and I smoke weed. I am pushing 40 and have been smoking weed since I was 14. There is a huge difference between people that use marijuana and those that use heroin, crack, and meth. As for me, I pay my bills first then purchase my recreational drug. I don't lie, steel and cheat to get my drug of choice, and I have never moved on to a more serious drug. We need to stop pursuing these small time marijuana users/sellers, and target the more serious drug users/sellers. Stop them from robbing Bill Grays at knifepoint to go buy some crack...let's get serious people!!!

The point is that most people will try marijuana first, usually as a teen or even a kid. Once the fear of taking that drug wears off because nothing really bad happened like the grown-ups said it would, they are more apt to try something else. Because if marijuana didn't mess you up, how bad could the other stuff be? Trouble is, the other stuff DOES mess you up and his highly addictive. Marijuana just gives you the courage try the stuff your health teacher warned you about.

You are an exception, most people use weed as a step to higher level drugs...I agree with you, we should get the higher level ones that arent as well functioning as you
