not sure .I am a bit older but i can remember walking by Gingellas house ,( it might have been his brothers in greece) in the 80s .I also remember Torpey and Taylor after they blew up some car at the Blue Gardenia . I think the mafia is still here but in a much diminished fashion.

Now its NY state who has become the gangsters .they runs the numbers ,own OTB and have the greatest strong arms the world has ever seen in there own private army called NYS troopers .

they makes these other guys look like boy scouts .

Tom got his start by shaking down the neighborhood paper-boy for pocket change ... literally.

Tom would pick him up, turn the poor kid up-side down and shake him until the change fell out of his pockets.

I don't mean that in a bad way. It was actually kind of funny as it was happening.

If it did, there wouldn't be any of this BS going on in the city with the gangs and shootings.

I live out of state and have for more than 20 years. However, I grew up in the same neighborhood as S.Gingello and that neighborhood was safe- now when I drive around and go to Savoia Bakery... I cannot believe I grew up on Clifford Ave.

I remember as a high school kid always reading and hearing about Sammy G (Gingenllo) who finally got his Buick blown up on April 23, 1978 it was on the front cover of the Democrat and Chronicle in Rochester N.Y. after spending the last hours at the club called Ben's Cafe Society. I also remember hearing about Frank Valentie. It seems we hear much about mafia news anymore as much and as prominent as it was back in the 60's and 70's but I'm sure it still exists only scaled sown at least here in Rochester N.Y.
