I tend to agree with you But.
If what you say is true, if the majority of city residents are getting terrorized by the minority.
Why doesn't black Mayor Lovely say with the full unwavering support of black ministers and black community organizer/activists and Adam McFadden?
Crime in Rochester is going to stop here and now. On my watch I am directing my hand picked police chief to come down on criminals like a ton of bricks. I will ask MC DA to prosecute to the fullest. I will ask Judges to set high bail and show little leniency.
The signal will be sent be a thug in Rochester you are going to jail/prison for a long time.
Mayor Lovely should say to criminals "I don't care if you rot in jail/prison" I am here first and foremost to protect the decent law abiding citizens of Rochester and MRC.
If Andrew Cuomo has to keep a few of his planned prison closings open for a few more years so be it. Get over it Andy.
If the problem is a small minority crush the relentlessly and don't let up. Make Rochester safe again.
also to be very clear

a mayor and a councilman can not tell a judge how to sentence.

however while on the topic, our system is a severe problem.

they have all these gun laws, and general laws, yet people who are caught breaking them often end up out of jail and on the streets very quickly. This is done to get them in the probation system which provides revenue.

that is currently what nys cares about, revenue, not justice and safety and i do agree, our entire justice system needs a severe overhaul

when some thug can get caught with a gun and be back on the streets in weeks or days, we clearly have a severe problem where the system is benefiting the criminals, however that doesnt mean the entire city is made up of criminals

what we are seeing is habitual criminals committing their crimes over and over again within the same niche.
the corner stores are congregation places for the minority that are criminals. from the corner stores they migrate to nearby properties and spread their disease.
corner stores in the city are like african watering holes, some tame animals go there for sustenance, others go there for the opportunity to pounce.
Just as bars end up getting closed or suspended liquor licenses if they have so many police actions in a certain amount of time. the same should be for these corner stores. Once their business is threatened, then the owners wont hesitate to call cops on the undesireables to get them away or owners will run them off themselves. Put up outside surveillance cameras with signs saying the videos are turned over to police.

wrong wrong wrong

there are two specific corner stores by my house within a stones throw, i am witness to them each and every day

they have had countless incidents, the police respond weekly if not daily, the politicians and the police have all personally admitted to me for the past decade that they are aware of the crime going on at these properties. the majority of shootings all happen in the vicinity of these stores.

the official response, "our hands are tied. we are doing the best we can"

the stores arent getting shut down, sometimes the ownership might change hands, however the activities never change.

bars and liquor stores, maybe you are right, i dont know about them, they are not the problems in my area, but i can personally speak to the corner store issue and thats a serious issue. they have been a serious issue for over a decade now

my initial reply to you is invalid

I misread your post

my apologies, i thought you said the corner stores were the same as bars

you clearly said however they should be the same, you are correct

that would be a solution
