Pro-tax Senators are trying to rush through an online tax hike with as little consideration as possible.

As early as Monday, the Senate will vote on a bill introduced only last Tuesday. The text of this legislation, which would fundamentally change interstate commerce, only became available over the weekend. And you thought ObamaCare was jammed through Nancy Pelosi's Democratic House in a hurry...

I'm sorry! For a second there I thought that taxes pay for streets, cops, FDA scientists so you don't have to eat maggot-infested meat, K-12 schooling, the salaries of the politicians that voted down background checks (at least no one has to hear all those halfwit southerners cry for a while), the funding behind research that led to regulations to keep the paint on the pole of the American flag you guys try to wrap yourselves in lead-free, etc., to name a few.

No it is another tax so the goverment, both parties can waste more money on entitlemt programs to buy votes. If they would ever get a REAL budget and obey it they could LOWER taxes.A good start would be to cut the federal payroll by 30%,stop giving BILLIONS to countries that hate us,letting the illegals in and living off of the system, stop making more regulations on companies that will either drives them overseas or out of business. That is just a small start that is needed now. If you believe what you posted then you have been brainwashed by the goverment and the MSM.Don't drink the kool-aid,it will rot your brain.BTW:Your statement about the flag is uncalled for,I don't think anyone here wraps ourselves in the flag,90% of the people on here loves this country no matter what our politics are. Just saying.

Don't be so ignorant. For starters there is more than enough tax dollars already to fund those things. Secondly the only thing this accomplishes is discouragement of interstate commerce of small businesses. It will create a business climate that strongly favors those big "treat employees and customers like crap" box stores that both conservative and liberal folks are getting tired of. Not good for consumer or merchant.
You got it. Walmart (with others) is pushing this bill bigtime, because they can easily take the hit -- while small businesses can't.

While my original post was obviously meant to be taken lightly, I definitely take issue with Wal Mart, if for no other reason the aggressive way they are continuously driving ma and pa stores out of business.

Well being 100% anti-tax is just as ignorant as the flag comment. The point i'm trying to drive home is completely true (that this country would not function the way it does without taxation), but it's the way they're allocated that is a problem.

I'm sure China as well would be awfully happy if it passes. Certain lobby groups have been pushing for this for a while now. Is it not funny how certain people protest and complain about places like Wal-Mart but then hear "collect more taxes" and decide to blindly support a plan that gives them favor.
From eBay via email today:

The solution is simple: we believe small businesses with less than 50 employees or less than $10 million in annual out-of-state sales should be exempt from the burden of collecting sales taxes nationwide. To put that in perspective, Amazon does more than $10 million in sales every 90 minutes. That's what we're fighting for, and what big companies such as Amazon are fighting against.

Makes sense.

CNBC is reporting (Wed AM) that this is nearly a done deal - and they believe it will pass into law. The want to erase any safe havens for tax free purchases nationwide.

Amazon, Walmart, Target and large retailers are lobbying hard and aggressively to get it passed quickly.
