Former Webster Thomas boys soccer coach Ralph Wager charged in North Carolina

Ralph Wager, who coached boys soccer at Webster Thomas High School from 1967-82 and was a junior-high health teacher, is accused of sex crimes involving a child more than 20 years ago, when Wager coached at Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C.

Wager, 69, of Charlotte, was charged with felony first-degree child sex offense, crimes against nature and indecent liberties with a child. Rowan County sheriffÂ’s deputies say the investigation began in May. The incidents are alleged to have occurred between 1987 and 1989.

Coach Wager coached both of my kids for several years including private lessons on many occasons. He was always a very good coach, a nice friendly guy, and very professional. These charges simply do not match the coach I know. My kids and hundreds of others here in Charlotte love coach Wager. I just do not believe the man I know would ever hurt a child.

He's white.
You better have a long talk with your kids and see what really happened during these "private lessons".

My Mother did Ralph Wager's taxes in the 70's. I played many sports in Webster, including soccer so it was an honor to have the coach come to our house once or twice a year.
He was always professional and inspirational to me. I remember taking his health class at Schroeder. Even though he knew my mom well and knew me, he was always a fair teacher, he never did me any favors. He always gave excellent advice on training. I have thought well of him often over the years, remembering things he told me, motivational cues, visualization, important memories.
If he is a molester then it is because he is a sick man. The Ralph Wager I knew was nothing but a mentor and motivator.

You should be his character witness in court and help him get off or get a lighter sentence. It's funny how all you whites stick up for each other.

Ralph was my soccer coach for years, im not saying he did nothing wrong cause I dont know. What I do know is that everyone makes mistakes, some worse than others but still mistakes. If he did, he shouldnt have taken advantage. However that doesn't mean he was a bad man. He was always very nice, inspirational, and he absolutely knew his soccer. A phenomenal soccer player and coach. People that talk shit or don't like something, its sometimes because they r uneducated on the matter. If u don't know him... u don't know him.

Not in bulbous nosed Bill Cosby's case.
That's true, but all the notoriety hammered his career and legacy... and it's not over yet. Cosby burned through a lot of unsuspecting drugged women, but it sounds like the best (for the women) is yet to come. Cosby should be sitting in jail. When you're rich, you don't do jail time, black or white.
