I used to attend rochester christian church ministries over on lyell road in gates. At first, I loved it. Had MANY great new friends, did some volunteer work, and was happy. Then it started to change. The volunteer work now seemed like slave labor- working 10 hour shifts FOR NO MONEY, They became controlling- telling me who I could and could not hang out with. They began kicking people out for having opposing views, and they began displaying corrupt business practices. They opened a mission center on jay street in September 2006, allegedly to provide food and housing to inner city poor. NOBODY HAS MOVED IN YET. The only people living there are RCCM floozies. The place is a giant tax write off. The main building in gates got a MULTI MILLION dollar renovation, while the transformation center is shobbily furnished. There pastor- stephen galvano, has a god complex and went so far as to BAN FROM THE CHURCH someone simply for disagreeing with him. This church practices extortion, control, cooercion, and is a cult... and the worst part is they disguise it a;; as love for christ. AVOID RCCM AT ALL COSTS. I spent 2 years there and have yet to recover emotionally.

I was born and raised Roman Catholic, but my family and I no longer attend, sick with sadness when you see all the wrong doings that go on in parish, almost seems like organized crime at times, money rolls up to the Pope "Godfather", hypocrisy seems to be the norm "do what I say, not what I do", just love it when I saw gambling at the Church festivals, that was a joke...Most of the priests and the pastor that I grew up with are no longer in the priesthood, and along with their departures came many stories of womenizing and illegal activities, funny how the pastor had the most expensive vehicle around, and Jesus walked in sandles, if there is a God, we need him now.

We all have our own opinion. I have been attending Rochester Christian Church Ministries off and on for almost 5 years. During the past 6 months I have been attending every Sunday except when I have to work, one Sunday per month. The church was extremely helpful to me when my son was going through a very difficult stage in his life that destroyed my entire family. The pastor's wife and other ministers at the church would often come by and visit and invite us to their home for dinner. Pastor Galvano counseled my son every week for a year. Now he is doing so much better. He volunteers at the Transformation Center every Tuesday night and serves food to the less fortunate. My husband has even recently talked to me about coming to church with me.
I don't profess to be a great christian but when I read the information above, I knew that I needed to give my opinion. Rochester Christian Church has done more for me than any member of my own family.

I was there too, long before you joined. I was the first to be kicked out. I was there 10years and yes volunteering does not end up being unto the Lord, they will try to take what they can and when they get called on the carpet to practice what they preach, then you are no longer a part of them. Funny the Pastor use to Preach about the book of Acts and when God put in front of him many situations that would require: unconditional love, foregiveness, mercy, and kindness, he just didnt see it, instead, if your situation couldnt fit into his RCCM world then shame on you. You then got called anything from a Jezabel to a Judas. But alas: I have nothing but mercy for him , as I would not want the blood of many lost sheep on my hands on judgement day. So many he cast away, so many the Holy Spirit grieves. May God have Mercy on you Pastor, the anger , betrayal and hurt you have given so many of your sheep we could not be as merciful as God.

We can judge through the Holy Spirit, you must have discernment to warn the people attending a church that is a cult !! I rebuke manipulations and false teachings, etc in Jesus name!.....this Pastor is dangerous and IS a wolf in sheep clothing, pray that people in the church to open their eyes!! Good grief! Christians are easily deceived today!! Wake up !!

Cults don't necessarily do bad things, they do manipulating and deceiving things. I do not trust this man, I know his ex-wife and the daughter he never wanted to see. There is more to it than meets the eye. I wouldn't recommend going to this church. The pastor believes in generational curses as well, a dangerous man as I say....

Wait a minute. A religious organization that is corrupt? Surley you jest.. Let me tell you something. Any and All religious organizations have one thing in common. They were organized by men (or women) and the second thing that the MAJORITY of them have in common is they are corrupt. Take for instance the Catholic church... taking money from parishiners so they can pile it up? Fact.. The Vaticant is one of the richest country's in the world. Yes folks the vaticant is sovern from Italy. Fact...During the inquisitions, christians (catholic church) killed more people hitler had killed during WW2. Fact the bible was written by men and the writing was acclimated to their own personal gain. There are NO quotes from God in the Bible....
Fact... The (now called (st. james version) of the bible was approved around 400AD, by a Roman emporer (Constantine) and the text was designed to be acceptable for the times so that the religion could be vialble.
FACT....many Gospels were excluded. And as I said before the text was designed to advance the cause of the writters, not to benefit the constituants.
FACT.. Jesus walked across the dessert in sandles, but we have priests living in $300,000 houses while there are people right in this city in need.. They don't care
FACT... it's been longer than a week now since I've read an article about some priest molesting someone?
FACT... The ONLY organization that is more corrupt, in this country, is the federal and state governments, of the United States of America.

Yes, unfortunately there are many churches out there with serious problems and false teachers. If you read the Bible carefully, you will find that this should be no surprise - it was predicted and as Faithful Christians we should always be on our guard.

But there are quality churches out there that are doing their best to glorify God with solid worship, teaching, and service. This means a Bible-believing, evangelical church with solid expositional preaching every Sunday. You may need to visit a dozen or so churches to understand what's out there and help you understand what you're looking for. The main thing is to READ YOUR BIBLE, gain an understanding of what the true Gospel is, and find a church that presents the Gospel clearly and regularly in a doctrinally correct way.

After visiting more than a dozen churches over a 3-year period I landed back at RCCM in the spring of this year. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, even though I though I knew. I am a intellectual and that sometimes got in the way of my heart. The truth, as I see it, is that RCCM is the only church that is really doing something. Love them or hate them, there is no disputing that they are impacting Rochester with the Gospel. Thousands come to Christ. Tent meetings, festivals, Christmas events, etc. Many converts never even make it to church, but I personally witness the prayer and travail over each souls. There is alot of heart at RCCM. I have decided to lock in and commit for 2010. There is alot of discussion of the big plans for 2010, and I am deciding to be a part of it. RCCM is certainly not an average church. I suppose you have to be around to catch the vybe. It all heart here, and I found what I'm looking for. If those of you criticizing were around for the Christmas festivities, I wonder if you might change your tune.

There are a series of ministries in Rochester affiliated under "living faith ministeries". The Rochester Christian Church is one of them. The Jubilee Christian Church is another. My ex has been taking my children to that church and has become deeply involved. I 100% support learning about faith and the teachings of Jesus, but I had deep concerns about the way she and my boys were speaking of the church. That lead me to do a quick search and found this forum. Needless to say, this does not quell my concern. Nor does their boasting of a multi-million dollar facility. Something is amiss.

The enemy comes to steal kill and destroy..God doesnt judge succes by what we do. His ways are not are ways his thoughts are higher than ours..Dont follow after men.but pursue and follow Jesus Christ...Will a man rob God..consider your ways..repent and do the first works..Peter the devil wants to sift you..But I have prayed for you...The church of Ephesus was known for their labour, and patience andno tolerance for evil..NEVERTHELESS...He had something against them they were operating out of lack of first love..Many churches today have lost the intimacy..its not that the churches are not in love..Its that they are not in love like the first time..first love..Bigger is not better Give me prescence ..not presents

Most of these made up-name churches are formed by regular people claiming to be religous to get money and tax breaks.
Theres one in East Rochester (starts with a ''k'') and in the city on Lee Rd run by crooks who scammed workers from 2 companies out of wages, healthcare, and are still in litigation. Ask them.
Anybody know of this?

My wife and I attended the RCCM by Village Gate back in the late 90's. The people as well as Pastor Galvano, the brother of the one being attacked on this post were Wonderful. I've never met Galvano but his brother is a good man. If your looking you will always find fault in church members...always. But first remove the log from your own eye before you judge. Everyone is a work in progress. Jesus lost patience even with his followers. Spend more time helping others instead of being concerned about the faults of others. It is not a cult. Just a group of people trying to make it through life with a sense of grace.

There's quite a few in this city. I've been trying to warn people about some very controlling practices ("tithe or be cursed", "listen to our prophets or you won't get a 'special' blessing, "if you leave our group you may not be in 'God's favor'") amongst other things people are involved in when it comes to some churches in our city. It's super corrupt and we need prayer severely. Some folks are so caught up that you tell them what's happening but the moment I name the church they say"oh but they're so nice, you must be hearing things" or "but the worship is so great". I don't care, wrong is wrong and it's sad and actually a bit scary. I haven't named the church here but they are connected with ones named here
