Maybe Don will give up the 11 p.m. news segment. I love Don. But I gotta admit, this is crazy. Maybe he has dug a huge financial hole for himself and needs the money??? I don't know. But Doug is probably so damn pissed. lol.

I like Don, but it's time to step down. Like you said, at least channel 10 is going in another direction. Anchoring local news in your 70s is a liability. 13 could use a lot of new faces, last time i saw Patrice Walsh she looked goddamn horrible! Is she still with them? I haven't watched 13 in ages.

What news station is rated the highest, 8,10 or 13?

Ch 10 is the only station stuck in a time warp. They are the only station not to broadcast in HD. I don't watch that postage stamp on my HD TV.

Channel 10 is fighting off channel 8 for 2nd place. 13 dominates the ratings. I don't know why though? Who wants to watch old man Alhart or that skank Rachel Barnhart?

Don Alhart may be the sole reason 13 has been number 1 for many years. It can also doom them in in the future.

As a kid, I remember when 10 was numbet 1. Gabe Dalmath, Janet Lomax, John Hambleton, Rich Funke, Warren Doremous. My parents religiously watched 10. My mom still does.

Speaking of 10, how come reporters like Brett Davidson and Berkeley Brean didn't take over for Rich?

Adam Chodak I think would be a great replacement for Don. Doug just is not the right person for the Anchor job. If he had the right stuff he wold have been long gone and at another station by now. Not sure what these people get paid but they can not be worth the money for a few hours on the air. Don and Doug do no reporting its just air time. You never see Doug at 6 or 11??? That is also strange?
I often wondered that myself. Is Doug really that good? He's been at 13 for about 30 years and he's doing a morning program. Is he the next guy to take over for Don or is just an employee with a long tenure?

<quoted text> He like many of the others at TV13 are dead wood now. Just making big bucks but bringing no new ideals or life to the station. Like Kodak employees, Just hanging on to retire but contributing very little and no ambition to get ahead. You would think Doug would be a co Anchor with Don now? Remember Dick Burt and Don Alhart the dynamic duo Team? Doug has been there 30 years. Still not an anchor. Why? Its like the station has no place by to put him but they do not want him as anchor or as a team with Don.
Yes, I remember Dick Burt, and yeah why can't Doug co-anchor with Don? Good question, never thought of that.

Doug can't co anchor with Don because he's not a woman. That is Ginny Ryans job. Janet and Rich..Don and Ginny..Kevin ( I just had my knee replaced / face man ) Doran and the Irish gal..Maureen something or other.

I just came across this discussion, over a year late. But it really troubles me that people think a news anchor should retire based on age. Don's still doing a great job of it, and with his experience, he is mentoring the new anchors. Things have gotten so youth, beauty and sex oriented in society, that it now seems people think that any senior in the media should be put out to pasture just because of the sage and wise image of age. Don has seen many drastic technological advancements during his tenure, and he has grown and changed with them. He's been a participant in that progress. If ever his mind can no longer keep up with the technology, with change, THEN it'll be time to quit.

Don should check into a nursing home. He's a lousy anchor that is well beyond his prime. I don't watch Ch 13 specifically because Don is the anchor. Changed over to Ch 8 a couple of years ago.
