KAAL-TV Promotes Penalized CULT's Conventions

Only two weeks after simply burying into their website the Associated Press story which reported that the WATCHTOWER CULT OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES had just become the subject of the LARGEST JURY VERDICT EVER AGAINST A RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION in the United States, FOR A SINGLE VICTIM OF CHILD SEX ABUSE, KAAL-TV published, and possibly broadcasted, a classic "puff piece" --- written by reporter Dietrich Nissen --- promoting the WATCHTOWER CULT's ongoing "District Convention" being held at the Mayo Civic Center.
Only two weeks ago, media outlets across the United States reported the civil court case involving a then 9 year-old Jehovah's Witness Girl who was repeatedly sexually molested by a fellow Jehovah's Witness congregant, and one-time congregation Ministerial Servant, who was known to the organization to have been previously convicted on child molestation charges. However, that fact had been kept a SECRET from the victim, her parents, and other regular members of their local congregation due to the secrecy policies issued from WATCHTOWER CULT Headquarters in Brooklyn, New York.
The California civil court jury was so disgusted with WATCHTOWER CULT's internal policies that it not only granted a large civil damages award against the Perpetrator, but the jury also granted a $21 MILLION DOLLARS PUNITIVE DAMAGES AWARD -- stacked on top of an approximate $2 MILLION DOLLARS ACTUAL DAMAGES AWARD -- against WATCHTOWER CULT HEADQUARTERS.
In the very wake of that recent DISGRACEFUL NEWS about the WATCHTOWER CULT and its internal policies that have led critics to call the Watchtower Cult a "pedophile's paradise", the Management at KAAL-TV decided to take the time and incur the expense of sending out staffers to obtain self-promoting statements from Watchtower Cult representatives, and find "praising" statements from local business owners --- like Victoria's restaurant manager, Savuth San,--- and local government leaders --- like Rochester Convention and Visitor's Bureau Executive Director, Brad Jones.
RCVB Executive Director, Brad Jones claims that the Watchtower Cult spends lots of money in Rochester. Notably, however, the article FAILS TO MENTION how many if any TAX DOLLARS are being "kicked back" to the WATCHTOWER CULT -- either via VENUE RENTAL SUBSIDIES, or outright CASH kickback of motel tax receipts. Maybe KAAL-TV will mention such in their next website article, or television broadcast. Don't hold your breath.
KAAL-TV management also could have directed their reporters to obtain a statement from Watchtower Cult Representatives about that LARGEST JURY VERDICT EVER AGAINST A RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION in the United States, FOR A SINGLE VICTIM OF CHILD SEX ABUSE.
Maybe it is naive to expect real journalism to interfere with "puff piece" jounalism practiced at KAAL-TV. Concern for children should not get in the way of a story about money.
Maybe someone should ask KAAL-TV's corporate owners, HUBBARD BROADCASTING, if they are proud of KAAL-TV's brand of journalism?
