It's a feel-good event. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing more than that.
Biking to work is not practical for most. They don't have the bike, stamina, health, weather, safe path, time, repair capability, storage facility at both ends or dress code that allows biking to work.

As a way to encourage exercise, I'm all in.

Even if we bike to work, the tax monsters will find another reason to make us pay by the mileage for just biking !!!!!

Those are mostly excuses, except for weather, which is more of a factor in winter.. I live 18 miles from work in an area that is not bike-friendly and still manage to average commuting by bike once/week year round.

Most progressive-thinking companies will accomodate bicyle commuters when asked.

Everything else can be learned or developed (repair capability, and stamina).

Well, that's you. Congrats. Everybody does not choose to bike 36 miles to/from work. Some people have a life not tied to two wheels or fitness. Some offices don't like the smell of BO all day long. Some wives like a husband that can show up to close the deal. Some people have no desire to repair a TV or a bike. They should not be forced to indulge your bike culture. You do it for fun. If it ain't fun for me why should I do it?

Eye used to see Patrick Biange ride his bike up and down Jefferson all the time. It has been awhile since I last him.

Will he be running for council in the next election?

You make many assumptions about this persons situation, so here is some about yours: I hope you have fun in your sedentary life, rotting away in front of the TV. Enjoy that Wal-Mart electric cart that you will be riding sooner or later.

Don't assume too much as I am a bi-athlete. My run times were in Runner's World in the past and I bike several times per day either inside or outside. I ride custom bikes and can handle most repairs on the road. My goal is to save the health care system single handedly by not using it. But it's not for everybody.

Does everything in your life revolve around Lexie the dog? Why don't you take your folders and wave them in front of your face and cool off. Please for the good of SCS and humanity.
