Agreed. I am 22 years old and grew up and graduated in New Haven. I have lived here for 17 years, and only now am I aware of anything political. I can tell you first hand that politics of the village don't affect growing up here. I had an amazing childhood and adolescent life (I really could not have asked for better), regardless of what political action was or wasn't taking place. What does affect kids growing up in this town is the ridiculous slandering like I am seeing here. I know the girl mentioned in so many previous posts (Hea), and I don't think I have ever met a nicer human being. I am not sure how this white/black shit came up, but if it really matters that much to you, you are in the wrong place. I love New Haven, and I am proud to say that I grew up here, but seeing adults in the community responding with such ridiculous comments and slander, I have to admit that it takes my pride down a notch or 2.<quoted text>
You got some of your facts right but not all. I too grew up in this town and chose to stay. Nothing has change since you were growing up. You just became "aware" of what was always there. You also chose to believe whatever rumor was floating around. Too bad for you. You lost out on a great community that has problems that need to be fixed. Instead of staying around to fix them, you chose to leave. That's fine, but it's still the same place and I enjoy living here.
