Forum sheds light on candidates' views

There are 2 comments on the Hometown Life story from Aug 7, 2007, titled Forum sheds light on candidates' views. In it, Hometown Life reports that:

“It was nice to see young people here; a good cross-section of questions, too. "The mayoral candidates I was pretty familiar with. The council people, I really was trying to make some decisions.”

Though the four people running for mayor of Rochester Hills are familiar faces, those running for city council aren't necessarily well known. via Hometown Life

The candidates forum was quite revealing to me. Bill Windscheif was by far the most knowledgable At-Large candidate in every aspect of our city government.Vern Pixley kept mentioning Rochester when the debate and issues are about Rochester Hills. Micheal Webb was dismal. Lorraine McGoldrick and Paul Miller where obviously passionate about their community.
The mayoral forum was extrememly revealing. Mayor Barnett took some slams from Ambrozatis, Golden and Beaton. Barnett's lost my vote with his statements of endoresemnts from the Okland County Republicans. A question about brownfields had Barnett going off on a tangent that had me question his knowledge of brownfields which has, is and is going to be a big issue for this city.
Ambrozaitis smacked long time poltical nut Lee Znedell in his place by refusing to answer his loaded question about the Wal-Mart developement.
Golden's comments about mayoral pay should get voters attention-it is disgusting what we pay our administration in light of the strained economy and continued poor performance by key individuals. Beaton was entertaining but made some excellent points, making Barnett look bad at some points. If you havent seen the candidates forum, I urge you to before deciding on who you will vote for.It is on cabe TV or can we seen on the city website: www.rochesterhills.org . It is quite revealing.

I guess most people in the community didn't share your views. Barnett taking 70% of the vote out of 4 people is a pretty strong statement.
