Very Angry Floyd Lake landowners in Becker County Minnesota Propose A Class-Action Lawsuit Against Minnesota, And the DNR.
Plaintiffs in a proposed class-action lawsuit against the state of Minnesota, and its Department of Natural Resources, claim that the state and the DNR have violated its own policy in vandalizing and completely destroying the functionality of the Little Floyd Lake Dam at the start of the Pelican River.
The Dam, built in 1939 by the WPA, was designed to keep Little and Big Floyd lake at a stable level, This would also keep the Pelican river stable. For the last 30 years, after the DNR vandalism, the lake is high in the spring, but by August or September, it is 12 to 18 inches lower. With the dry spring of 2012, Little Floyd will just about dry up by September.
This very expensive lawsuit for the Slate of Minnesota and the DNR, could be stopped by the DNR with just one day of work to repair their vandalism of the dam, and install a 7 inch plank. The State and the DNR will give the public a hundred reasons why this should not be done. All the reasons are not valid. We would think their would be one intelligent person that understands the Big Picture.
Employes of the DNR can be hired and fired. Their supervisors can be re-elected or voted out of office. Your state Senators and Representatives work at your pleasure. Call and write them and tell them what you want done. Remind them they work for you, and ask them for a written reply to your request. You can change things if you want. You have the vote. Things will never change unless you make them change.
