Their parents need to be held responsible as well.

Kids do stupid things all the time. Yes, their parents need to have some responsibility in this situation too. If they wanted another day off from school they could of either played sick or cut school for the day. Now they will have this record over their head at least until they are adults. Then again, kids do a lot of what they see and hear. An example is there is/was this very 'smart' person in the family and one day during the mo. of Dec, she looked at me (wonder how many others she did this to) and said, "Guess what you're going to get for Christmas?" I said, What? This 10 year old came up to me with all her might and slapped me in the face. She claimed her Nana told her to do it. Sure enough after that I heard her Nana say to several of the grandchildren that she was going to give them a slap in the face for Christmas. Then again when 'SMART' was in highschool she used to go and spit in people's faces if she didn't like something. And at that time she should of known better. My point is that a lot of this comes from their family back-ground. Gotta go - taking my dog (in her stroller) off to the shelters flea mkt. then Toms River community day fair this afternoon.

Wonder how many more bomb threats they will be doing? Hopefully this will stop it. As I said kids do stupid things all the time. That's probably why a relative of 'someone' had to put her SMART daughter on birth-control when she was in the 7th grade. Just for insurance. It's a shame we all have to learn to late.

someone should question why garfield needs 4 high ranking police officers in a town that according to the local papers dont have much crime, also knowing that one will be retiring in 6 months

Hey "9506 why" I don't know if you've lived in Garfield, but I did for some time. Take a look at the New Jersey Uniform Crime Report available on line for free. It tells you how many and the type of crimes committed in every city in the state. I followed that report for over 15 years. There's also ways the police department can alter reports to change things up if necessary. I can assure you, they have more cops now, but crime is getting worse. The police department is overseen by the city manager who gets to decide on promotions. Most likely after the politicans tell him what they want him to do. The higher the rank, the bigger the paycheck and one less cop on the streets patroling. Political patronage destroyed Garfield along with appathetic voters looking to get away their own selfish agenda. If you don't believe me just read the Herald & News on line and observe the local news in that town. 90% or more is always another black eye for the city.
It used to be a nice place with less corruption a long time ago. Garfield is well on it's way to becoming another Passaic, Paterson, Newark, etc. It's only hope is the hard working, honest immigrant Polish population now moving there in large numbers. They need to organize their best people, run for city council and make the necessary changes. It will take years to fix the mess, but it's not impossible. That's the sad reality 9506 why. My condolences to the people who still live there suffering the results of a poorly run city.

High School kids could get away with almost anything these days. All their parents have to do is say ADHD or ADD and they could get away with anything they want to. And all that actually means is that the child as a hard time sitting still and the old expression goes (ants in the pants). My log in number ends with a three.

Hey 9506, why don't you call them yourself, the number is available on line. The owner probably has a friend in City Hall. Garfield will never rid itself of illegal apartments.. too much money to be made by the greedy. Too bad the residents have to suffer the crime, rape and even murder this BS has brought upon them by dirtbags landlords renting to illegal aliens. Not to mention the higher taxes every honest homeowner pays to support the extra kids in the schools and city services needed to sustain close to 30,000 people in just under 2 1/2 square miles. Amazing!
