What ever you do there MUST be a LIMIT in SIZE placed on the new incoming TEMPLE. This type of building always starts out small and with DETAILS not spelled out. Partial use for sunday school, child care, religous services, etc etc.
MUST sent LIMITS on the SIZE and USES of this project.
SMART PLANNING NOW, not taking advantage of in the FUTURE.

Thay got trown out of our town due to vague listed uses and unclear listed areas between:
Religous service space
Day care space
Kitchen space
Max occupancy
All occupancy limits could of been exceeded by the combined use of all spaces at the same time: Also parking spaces could not fit proposed building size and or occupancy.
Dont let the Town Fathers screw the Tax payers because their afraid of a Law Suit. How many people who would use the Temple live in Robbinsville vs travel from other towns???? The SIZE of the Temple should serve the size of Temple residents within ROBBINSVILLE

WOW, I cant believe your town fathers lead you into the burning city of death. This approval is the worst this Robbinsville could do. Your tax dollars are going up for a group that doesn't even support your town. They could give a rats AZZ about the town, except for the fact that you IDIOTS let them get a foot in the door. Now you will see additions asked for, over use of the site, and neighbor properties being bought to expand. This YOUNG DUMB town of ROBBINSVILLE let the wolf in sheeps clothing in. JUST STUPID

I think this is the best move by our Robbinsville Dept. Just imagine, what our society has become off late. Do we want our kids to grow up in this environment where they learn to smoke, inhale drugs and drink alcohol even before they are 18????
I have known this organization - BAPS- for a while now and they have done tremendous job in the past to improve the social well beings of individuals by imparting sound knowledge in their temples and educational facilities.
I am up for this. Long live BAPS, long live ROBBINSVILLE!!!!

I live within a very short jog of this site and already my neighbors and I have been approached about selling our homes to some temple worshipers.
I came home to find two men wandering in my front yard looking at my home! I'm always looking over my shoulder now because of it. We have already considered putting our home up for sale because once that building is in the traffic near my home will bring down my homes worth. Let them build this in East Windsor where I'm sure most of the temple's members are from.

We need to throw out the school board, planning board, town council, and mayor. No one cares about the people of this town. This is a joke that will DESTROY property value yet the taxes will be sky high.

We are all screwed.

I have just recently learned of this Mandir (temple/cultural center) 3 days ago. Do you know how I found out? We have the pleasure of looking out our front door at the whole shebang. We live on Hankins Road. A person just bought 6 acres next to my home and wants to build a 12,000 sq. ft. home in what is now woods to be close to his temple. I have been to the temple site 2 times and got 2 different stories. One said it'll be the 2nd biggest in the world, another said it won't be that big. The temple alone will be 20,000 sq. feet. Today is some holy day there and there are about a thousand Hindu's (bused in wit about 30 school buses) worshiping in a temporary structure as I write this. We have the privilege of listening to this construction over the next 5 to 7 years.

Anyone want to buy a home with a view?

You haven't seen anything yet my freinds. The proposed development approved with smaller scale project but at the end it will be giagantic complex with some monument higher then Lincoln center in DC. Initially they will come by bus or van but once evrything is done good luck for traffic over the wkend. Township palanning board was presented with smaller scale proposal with cooked traffic impact report. Township sould have done there own traffic impact study.

Well Jane, you may love BAPS, but I was misinformed. Cobra is correct. When I was escorted by a BAPS rep around the "grounds" I asked will this indeed be the 2nd biggest Hindu temple in the world and he laughed and said no. He told me the temple was only 16,000 sq. ft. However, I found a Mercer County Land Development Comittee report dated 4/14/10 stating approval (with conditions) was given to BAPS Mercer LLC to increase the size of the temple from 17,000 sq. feet, to 47,000 sq. feet during phase V of building. That's much larger than the biggest temple in Atlanta which is 20,000 sq. feet. Apparently they downplay it and it does indeed get bigger and bigger as time goes on. 5 - 7 years of construction; a real lot can happen. Check google for Hindu temple, Robbinsville, NJ and wikipedia calls it 2nd largest in the world.

WOW , Muslims keep building centers of terror and nothing happen.
Hindus are peaceful by nature.

1. This is not built by taxpayer money but BAPS.
2. No new businesses (which could bring construction jobs and later tourist based trade and shopping) would have come to this tract of land. Certainly the NYC Mosque would have attracted businesses but not here.
3. All temples are open to everyone and they provide food and help to homeless all the time.
4. Religious freedom is a step-stone to democracy. India allowed Christian missionaries to build all kinds of schools, churches. Yes there is opposition sometime by fundamentalists, but there are small minded people everywhere.

Some of these idiots posting here don't know nothing about BAPS. Every town that has built a temple has gain so much money from the visitors coming to these complexes. The one in Chicago used to be the biggest outside of India until this one in NJ is being built. The one being built in NJ will be the 2nd biggest temple in the WORLD. Just search "BAPS Chicago" on google and you'll read so many good things coming from it. The people living around chicago embarrassed to have this temple built with warm arms. These people in NJ seem like worthless people. I wish from reading these comments they don't build here and find a town that deserves it.

to clarify: they are building TWO temples on this land

1. Akshardham - a 'Great Temple' which is more like a monument. it will be extremely huge in comparison to the smaller temple. it will be white and carved of stone. visit to see the Delhi version of this which is in pink sandstone. There are NO other Akshardhams in any other country outside of India at present.
for a video of the Delhi Akshardham

2. Mandir - a smaller temple carved out of stone/marble, which will be used for daily worship and rituals. visit to see the very similar London Temple. They already these in Chigago, Atlanta, Georgia, Houston, Toronto and another under construction in California.

You may be opposed to the Temples now, but after seeing the absolute BEAUTY of the architecture your mind will change.
I am a European and NOT affiliated with BAPS or Hinduism.

I wish they had a website though. And I wish they would build an Akshardham in London!

I live on Hankins Rd. It is the worst.. Property values are going to plunge to the gutter.. I called the local Real Estate agent to appraise my beautiful home, and she said Hankins Rd is not an upcoming area where people want to live bc of the temple coming up. I am getting 100,000 less than what I should be getting, but her advise is to sell before the temple goes up.. bc after the temple goes up the traffic is going to be crazy. and value of properties are going down.. so my advice to my fellow Hankins Rd neighbors... sell your houses.. or ure gonna smell cury everyday you wake up.. and these people are dirty they walk on ur property they don't care.. they liter.. I went to the site and some indian refered me to the edison temple.. they destoryed the area... SO BYE BYE ROBBINSVILLE!!
