This guy was not a responsible gun owner and he did not purchase those guns legally. He broke all kinds of laws to obtain those guns. I would like to see photos of the weapons to determine exactly what guns he had.

He lied to obtain that permit. That is breaking the law. He obtained that permit by breaking the law. Of course the laws should be beefed up and the people enforcing the laws should be better at their jobs.(Why didn't anyone in local law enforcement recognize his surname when he applied for the permit)?

Which is why laws need to be beefed up as Obama suggestes.

======

At least 84 people have been charged since 2000 with illegal gun possession or assault with a dangerous weapon even though they had previously been committed by a judge as mentally ill. Of that group, 29 were charged with multiple counts of weapons possession and nine were considered by a judge to be mentally ill and dangerous.

Additionally, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has more than 168,000 "suspense files''-- records on Minnesotans who have been arrested since 1990 but whose files are so incomplete that the state can't determine if they should have the right to buy guns.

"The system failed in this case,'' Olson said in an interview. "We are having discussions with the BCA to make sure there aren't similar things like this hanging out there.''

Like a previous poster said, this "monster" LIED when he applied for a permit to purchase. That's a crime, and it should have been easily discovered.

Secondly, I have often advocated that juvenile records should NOT be sealed, especially when dealing with mental illness or serious and violent felonies. No sane person would knowingly admit that this guy should be able to own guns, especially handguns or so-called "assault weapons".

Blame the STATE BCA, DPS, and especially, our COURT SYSTEM, for failing to coordinate with each other in sharing this information.
I don't see where a new LAW has to be passed in order to get this done. It's time to stop treating the seriously mentally ill and obviously violent with KID GLOVES. Perhaps a few judges should be looking for work in a NEW PROFESSION.

IN ADDITION, while state law says that a police chief must issue a permit to purchase within 3 days (or 5 days or whatever) if nothing significant is found, there is NO LAW that prohibits a police chief from investigating FURTHER after the permit is issued.
The permit can be REVOKED if it is discovered that the applicant has lied about his/her history. It was only BLIND LUCK that this guy was discovered, but I credit the investigator with doing good work in following up on the case.

Sheeple,

The Prisons in America's Law Enforcement Industries are the most secure locations for warehousing the Seattle Slew type Sociopaths in America.

This is the most severe and controlled environment on the Earth. Guns are 100% BANNED for the humans en-caged there.

You Sheeple may justh be aghast to discover that every day in America's Prisons, Humans are murdered by murderer's.

And yes Sheeple, these criminals that do not follow the law will even be so criminal that they will fabricate "Zip Guns" to murder with.

You Sheeple have been done a terrible injustice in that you lack the intellectual capacity to process the concept of "Free Will and Choices".

The 10% that are defective like the Seattle Sociopath will always be a part of humanity. This 10% will always violate the laws that regulate society.

Adding 1000's of New Laws to control the RESPONSIBLE and FREE will not impact the choices of the 10% that are Criminal.

You Sheeple are to stupid to have a Vote that impacts the Laws that this Free Republic lives under......DO NOT VOTE!

Not to mention the liberal sentencing guidelines that put this deficient back in our midst.
THAT is where the real blame lies.

We will not agree about this.

The Recidivism rate for Murder is about 2%.

The problem is Enforcement of Laws for those identified as part of the 10%.

These Sociopaths are no more a danger to their neighbors that Seattle Slew is.

WE KNOW about this guy. We spend Trillions of Dollars to enrich those in the Law Enforcement Industries.

What do we get?

Lawyer Judges building Walnut Covered Mausoleums for their offices, Scumbag Lawyers that jump into Political Office because they are "Tough on Crime". We Little Boys and Little Girls that have real fast cars who run around giving tickets to poor folks that have "Expired Tax Stamps" on their license plates.

We do not have Weekly/Monthly visits to the homes of the Human that Committed a Crime by those we pay so well in the Law Enforcement Industries. She has paid her price, and needs to be checked on regularly until she has demonstrated that she can be treated as a Responsible and Free Citizen again.

WE the People have allowed ourselves to pay for a Defective Product from the Dependents with Government Jobs in the Law Enforcement Industries of Amerika!

Another "responsible gun owner" who purchases his guns legally.
AGAIN, re-read my previous post.

JUVENILE RECORDS that show MENTAL ILLNESS and/or VIOLENT CRIMES committed should NEVER have their records SEALED. If we need a new law for THIS, FINE.

NO NEW LAW is NEEDED for law enforcement to review a person's "Permit to Purchase", or even a concealed carry permit, at ANY TIME.

You ma'am are a moronic troll. There was nothing legal about those purchases and you know it. You are such a childish idiot. I don't see how your girlfriend tolerates it.
