Iím worried Ö
In many parts of the country like Minnesota, schools are not back in session, yet. Other parts have started. Yet, we already have our first shooting incident of the school year. Thankfully, early reports indicate that nobody was injured.
But letís face the facts. The United States is enduring an epidemic of gun violence. Itís easy to get a high-powered automatic weapon. Itís easy to get whatever kinds of ammunition you want including high-capacity magazines. If you have a history of violence or mental illness, no problem ó you can have all the guns and ammo you want.
How many children will die this school year?
Republicans in Minnesota are wetting themselves at the prospect of denying people the right to carry weapons in the State Capitol.
Their solution to our gun violence epidemic? As stupid as stupid gets. Theyíve proposed arming teachers. Theyíve proposed armed guards at our schools.
They refuse to consider background checks and restrictions on high-capacity magazines or anything other than arming people.
As they wet themselves over the possibility of any restrictions to end the epidemic, shriek about the ďSecon Amenmentz RitesĒ and fantasize about good guys with guns, ask yourself this question:
How many must die?
