Wow, sad. My best friend was killed in 1998 in a stupid bar fight at Grandma's saloon. I feel for the family. When will people realize that violence is not a solution? There are too many tough guy wannabe's that don't realize what can happen when you fight.

Ah, he's free on BAIL, which is at $500K, which means that he or his family had to pony up probably 10% of it, or $50K, plus hire an expensive attorney. Yes, this was a stupid and unfortunate event. I do think, though, that charging him with murder is overreaching. I don't think that the perp intentionally wanted to kill the victim. Manslaughter seems to me to be a more appropriate charge that would stick in court. It will still mean a substantial time in prison.

Digger where do you get 500K bail. From what I have seen it is 100K. It is a real unfortunate instance for both men. The guy who threw 1 single punch, and the guy that received it. How unfortunate. RIP Adam.

So some small town loser who probably has one skill in life and that is fighting causes the death of this wonderful young man? And is out on bail? It was a mistake for Baker to engage in a fight with this guy but this loser needs to do some serious time in jail for this.

God bless his family, lock the other knucklehead up and toss the key. That would send a good strong message to all of the other knuckleheads who like to fight when they drink.

When you punch someone, no result is unintentional. If you dont want to suffer the consequences of your idiotic decisions then TURN THE OTHER CHEEK!!!

Alcohol: Just walk away when someone gets combative in bars. And don't go to joints where violent drinkers hang out. So much stupid related to alcohol.

For the record I would like to say I know someone who was there that night and Adam, and those in his party, DID NOT initiate, NOR respond in kind, to any of the provocationn and tried to just walk away, when this "person", sucker punched him.
Whether his death was intentional or not, there are serious consequences that need to result.
Adam was poised for a bright and meaningful life that was literally tossed to the curb that night.
That loss will never be made right and are everlasting.
The penalty should represent that.
God bless the Baker family and friends. Peace.

Knuckleheads don't understand "good strong messages". That's why them call them knuckleheads. Many of you talk like you've never been in a fist fight, likely a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Bar fights have occurred since the first bar opened it's doors, and they'll be around until the last one closes it's doors. According to the story, there's nothing that says he tried to kill the guy so I don't think "throwing away the key" is even remotely reasonable. It is very sad this young man died, but I'd bet the other guy would do anything to roll back the clock and not punch him. The courts will determine if he should be held accountable-for unintentional manslaughter, keyword there=unintentional.

Weird, why point out he was a former Stillwater student?

Why not point out what college he attended or what grade school?

this guy is tough like a bowel obstruction. I wonder how many others he has seen fit to punch? It aint the first time he set his paws on somebody else. Guys like mr. tough here lead a life that reflects his inner most thoughts or lack there-of. Maybe (or maybe not) this will finally sink into his cranium full of corn mash moon shine.

Adam Bakerís blood alcohol level was .24, which is three times the legal limit for driving. It's clear he was was out in that dark bar parking lot with some of his friends to fight; they obviously didn't go out there to play horseshoes. Tuomisto saw Baker and his friends beating up one of HIS friends, so he admirably went over to pull them off. But while Tuomisto was attempting to pull them off, Adam and his friends attacked Tuomisto, who threw that one punch in self defense. Because Adam was so drunk, he had no balance, causing him to fall. Adam's inebriation also prevented him from breaking his fall. As a result, he fell directly on his head. VERY sad. Obviously a fluke accident caused by Adam's extreme drinking.

i've worked as a bouncer in many bars over the past four years and bar fights are never one sided. i'm sure baker did something to provoke the defendant. adding a murder charge to an assult that happened months before the death is asinine.

Jay, I have been following this story rather closely and had never heard his BAC was .24. Care to mention where you got that information?
