Getting bored of the same food places around here like Mcdonalds, El Rays, Sonic, Prestons, Phillips drive in, KFC,Lees chicken, Subway, huddle house, and other everyday eats. We need something new and fresh. Makes me sick to even think I got to eat at any of these food restaurants anymore. Just would really like something else for a change without having to go all the way to Somerset or Knoxville. So this topic is just to see if anyone else feels this way, if ya got any suggestions to any different places to eat in Oneida, and If u could put a new restaurant in Oneida what would it be? Thanx

Unfortunately, the Country Cafe in Pine Knot is closed on Sunday, but they sure do have great food! Cumberland Falls Lodge is open and has a good buffet and view! And you're right...people drive all the way to Somerset or Knoxville to eat. Maybe the people who bought Tobes will reopen that restaurant with something unique! I personally miss Burger King and wish the Brazilians who bought that would be contacted to see if they would come back in with their new stuff...same with Krystal that was just bought out...or Wendy's or Steak & Shake, etc. Oneida Mayor ought to get on that.

I think that a GOLDEN CORRAL or SHONEY'S would be great here, as those are the places a lot of people head to from here, either to Somerset or Knoxville! We do love to "pig out"!

You didn't mention these, but have you had DJ's broasted chicken? Or been to that Cafe on 297 between Paint Rock and Capital Hill? How about the Harrow Road Cafe in Rugby...yum...good music on Friday nites, too? How about Tray V or Panda or Fireside? Just thinking...

My understanding is that O.E. Chambers bought the old Rainbow Restaurant in the Ray Byrd auction, so maybe they are moving there? Would be a better location for sure! But I don't know if that's it.

Have you tried the Cumberland Inn in Williamsburg? They recently renovated and changed their menu to a "steak house" kind of menu.
It only takes about 35 minutes from Oneida to get there. We ate there twice and it was very good and is a beautiful place!

Try Gayter's in Winfield. It is pretty good and not too expensive. It is right next to the service station there. Try it. It is different and good.

Until they allow liquor you will never get any good chain restaurants like Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, Outback etc.

They wouldn't come here even if they could serve liquor. Those restaurants are always in decent sized areas. None of them will come to a small place like Oneida. People are deluding themselves if they think they will.

With yall town having such a horrible unemployment rate and everyone has food stamps why not make the healthier choice and stop spending unnecessary money and cook something. Set a day in the week where your family can eat together pick a new recipe to try and do something new. So that way no matter mood for food you are in you can have it and also enjoy the satisfaction that you made it and it would be cheaper than going out since the gas prices.

I set fridays to recipe night. it teaches kids great lessons to make a better choice and take care of themselves instead of finding the greasiest burger and fries. And you always see in magazines awesome dishes and desserts while your waiting at your doc appointment just sneak out the page and bring out your innner chef!

For goodness sake do not send anyone to Panda, their food isn't hot enough to even register on a food therometer. I is supposed to register on the hot bar a 140 degrees. If you can pick up the pan out of the hot bar with no towel or no steam coming out of the bar, the FOOD IS NOT SAFE TO EAT.

I HAVE BEEN THERE TWICE, ONCE I BECAUSE IT WAS NEW TO THE AREA, AND THE FOOD WAS COLD THEN. THE SECOND WAS LAST WEEK AND THE FOOD WAS STILL COLD.

SOMEONE WILL GET SICK AND DIE FROM THEIR FOOD. I HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET THE STATE HEALTH DEPT OUT THERE TO SHUT THEM DOWN, BUT I WILL HAVE THEM CHECKED OUT!!!!

hey, how does scenic foods and helenwood foods get by with all of the outdated items they sell? The next time anyone goes to either of these two places make sure you check the date on your merchandise!

Regarding creative and even gourmet cooking at home: You don't have to tear out the pages at the doc's office for neat recipes if you're on here/online. Try these sites:

www.bettycrocker.com
www.allrecipes.com
www.bisquick.com
www.delish.com

Well, those are just a few I go to. There are plenty more! Some of the above have printout coupons that will save you money at the grocery, too! Like $40-$80!
