What does everyone think about these people that are buying large amounts of pop with food stamps and turns around a sells the pop for cash to gas stations or who ever for cash. I know im sick of it and something should be done about it.

they should set up a way to limit soda on food stamp purchases, like have a 1 12 pack limit. the stamps are for food and nutritional food, (milk, juice), not fifty cases of soda. kids cant live on sodas alone, not that these kids are seeing any of the soda either if it is going to other businesses or people for drugs.

All you need is a name or tag number and call it in.

Anyone with eyes can drive up through Oneida and see people unloading cases of pop at certain stations. It does no good to turn these people in because nothing happens. These low lifes have more and more kids to get extra assistance. I would love to see someone from the state sting these places and bust them and the loosers selling their stamps. But then what happens to these poor children that can't help it.

Do you seriously think any of the food stamps go to buying food for those kids? I'm here to say no it doesn't. If you stop the people from getting food stamps believe me the kids won't notice a difference food wise. What makes me mad is when you do report changes and do the right thing, and loose all benefits while the people who obtain and keep their benefits fraudulently run around on food stamp day selling pop to go get high.

It does no good to report these people. DHS doe3s nothing about it. I have reported several for buying the pop and selling it. I have reported a fmaily that really works the system. The man draws a check for disability, he is diabetic. His girlfriend and her two children live there too.she drashe claims she rents from the man and cleans houses for income. She gets over $400 a month in stamps and to top it off she only has her children half the time. Also the man's daughter lives there too with her boyfiend and their baby. The daughter claims they pay rent and they get over $400 a month on stamps so over $800 a month for that house alone. Most of it is sold to local gas stations as pop. Except for the one place that they go and ring up so much grocery and then iinstead of them getting food they give them 50 cents on a dollar for the stamps. Oh yeah, great system we have.
DHS will let these people by with anything.

Wow you really know all the inside of these people I bet your even family right? I not saying it right that people abuse the system.Id say lots of people here in Scott Co knows someone doin it in some way,Most learn from there other family members how to do it.I think this is one reason why Scott Co is slowly becoming a ghost town

No I am not family, but I do know alot about it. I work everyday to support my family and it burns me up to see these people sucking the system dry because they can. If they would have some kind of punishment and I mean real punishment, like make them wear a certain colored shirt and pick up trash on the roads or something. The embarrassment might make them stop. The whole system is messed up and needs to be thrown out and started over. There are some that truly do need help while others are just sucking it dry for those truly in need.

I agree with you people that work there whole life and pay in taxes and if they get sick and cant work they have to fight tooth and nail to get anything back.I think there should be a cap if a person didnt pay in enough but thats just the way I feel about it.

I am totally in agreement with you all.Hell we all know the system is so full of flaws, but DHS won't do anything because there would be so much paperwork. That's the reason DHS won't do anything.I know a cop who don't do any nit-picking because of the paperwork.Same with DHS.This is a drop in the bucket compared all the counties that this goes on in,and it happens in all counties. But the food stamp selling is nothing compared to what the illegals do to the states, counties and cities, and it seems they do it freely and openly and the officials let them get away with it. Why? You guessed it....too much paperwork. So we are all screwed unless or untill we give someone the reins who isn't afraid of BIG BROTHER!My two cents worth.

Businesses should lose their business license if they are caught buying from people off the street who dont have a license to sell it. It will definitley make me think twice about buying another soda from a gas station, convienience store. Drug residue such as meth could have the bottles or cans contaminated, Especially if they are being transported in a car that contains a meth lab. Then the public purchases it and drinks from them.
I just dont think it is safe or healthy for these stores to purchase items from a strangers car and place it on the shelf for sale. Something should be done to stop it. Business owners should do the right thing by agreeing not to purchase these items.

I used to get food stamps, don't get them anymore. I know people who sell pop to the gas stations. They aren't using the money to pay any bill. I work hard and so does my husband and we still struggle to put food in the house and pay bills. I jus don't think that food stamps should be used to buy drugs.

Why can't they stop from buying soda altogether? just like with toilet paper and such..... I truly think that would be more of an essential than soda drinks.

if ya ask me, this whole county needs to be busted! we have no laws(the courts make up their own). as fast as they go in the court, the faster they go out the back door. everyone knows what is going on or who is doing it but there is no-one in charge to report to. dhs goes in, works their hours, gets paid. end of story. no such thing as investigating anything. get don dare in here to dig around as to why scott co has no laws. seems to me, if this is the poorest county then why doesn't someone come in to see why and bust the ones not doing their job!! there are still plenty of people who would love a job. when it's time to vote again, try making a change. it would seem, the ones who have been voted in, aren't doing their job.

What gas stations are you talking about? Maybe if we get the names of these gas stations out in the public and they decline in business some of this will stop!

If they are buying with an EBT card? the state has a way to track purchases and has the right to pursue abuse. So there must be a small amount of abuse or the TBI doesn't want to waste time on small change? The time is coming quickly when smart people will prevail and change will happen. just sayin'?
