Thoughts on playstation 4?

Sony spent the bulk of its presentation showing off new games coming to the PS4. But the two biggest announcements came from the studios Blizzard and Bungie. Blizzard says it will bring the popular "Diablo III" game to the PS4. Bungie, which has traditionally developed games only for the Xbox, will launch its new game "Destiny" on the PS4.
Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Move will play a big part in the PS4 ecosystem. However, it has not yet been revealed whether the PS4 will launch alongside a new PS Eye camera and new Move controllers or whether the peripherals are staying the same with all the enhancements made console-side.
By tracking the light bar on the DualShock 4 pad and associating it with faces in the image, the game can identify which player face is connected to which game avatar. By using facial recognition the game can associate a face with a PSN profile.
High sensitivity, dual color cameras. Two cameras here.
1280x 800 12 bits/pixel, 60hz
Higher frame rates at lower resolutions
Wide angles Ė diagonal field of view is 85 degrees
3 axis acceeletromter, tilt sensor
Wide baseline 4 microphone array
Dedicated port, exclusive SCE connector
Game-loop sync can be changed, depending on framerate of game
PS4 streaming lets you stream out live gameplay to your friends. This is all built into the hardware and does not need to be supported by developers. Users can react to the video by typing comments in real time. You can do this to friends, or public.
The Share button
The PS4's ardware encoder always records the last several minutes of game play without using any additional resources from the game, by pressing the Share button you can then upload or save your gameplay and show your friends or keep it just for your own amusement.
PlayStation 4 Eye
What's really grabbing though is the development of the PlayStation 4 Eye, a newly developed camera system that utilizes two high-sensitivity camera equipped with wide-angle lenses and 85-degree diagonal angle views.
Sony said the cameras (amounting to 1280 x 800 pixels) can cut out the image of a player from the background or differentiate between players in the background and foreground, enhancing game play handily. There's also mention of logging in using facial recognition and using voice and body movements to play games "more intuitively."

I am super pumped for the Play Station 4. I have been a Play Station fan since I was a kid and got the PS1 for Christmas. I honestly hope there is more focus on the social aspect this time around, something that the Xbox had in spades. I also am really hoping for some awesome exclusives this time around, to keep me intrigued as the release date comes closer.

430$ for a game system is still kind of high but its better than 600$

I personally like what they announced and plan on buying one on launch day. The games - Killzone, Destiny, Watch_Dogs, Infamous, etc.- all look amazing and really show Sony's initiative on bringing exciting games to the PlayStation family.
And the DUAL SHOCK 4 controller seems to be a major upgrade and a big improvement to the current controller. The touchpad seems like it'll open so many new ways to interact with the games.

Nintendo needs to fix the Wii U's current state
they need to
1. Improve the Wii U's devkits to please 3rd party companies
2. Persuade Indy game makers to make games for the Wii U (they convinced FarSight so that's a start)
3. Make a commercial SO over the top that core gamers will come to them
4. With the TVii service launching tomorrow, the Big N must convince cable and satellite providers to join and let their DVR services be part of Nintendo TVii as an option
5. a ND defining how different Wii U is to the Wii
6. Surprise us with maybe a EBA game for the Wii U or a legit WarioWare title for the Wii U
Then they can take on sony and the playstation 4

this isn't about nintendo or wiiu

xbox will always be better than playstation.

No offense, but the Wii U CPU is crap. One of the Devs for Metro Last Night was asked if they're was going Wii U port for the Wii U, he said no. The Dev said the framerate on Wiiu was horrible.Wii U is horrible under the hood. Nintendo should take a page out of the Atari playbook and bury the Wii U in the desert, like Atari did with unsold copies of ET. Wii U phoned home, and got 'Phone Number disconnected' message... Wii U screwed!

The unfortuante news broke this morning that last month, the Wii U managed to shift a whopping 55,000 units in North America, a terrible figure given that expectations were that it would begin to pick up momentum in the new year after a slower than expected launch.

Weak third party support+ last generation graphics+ weak online multilayer support+ weak first party support at launch+ weak customer awareness= Wii U
Nintendo is now a lazy, complacent company regurgitating the same crap year after year. Their E3's are laughable, third party support mediocre, and work ethic non-existent. They rarely put in any effort into anything, and when they do it's for games that come out far and few between. I never wish any company to go down, but when they become so apathetic and by the numbers (as they have been for years now), they need a wake-up call. But people keep buying their sh!t over and over and over, so it's more than likely that'll never happen.
Thanks fanboys. Keep on playing the same games twenty years from now that you have been for the previous twenty.

Maybe some people enjoy playing inferior versions of games they completed last year.
It's like Nintendo turning up late to the party clutching three cans of warm fosters and half a tube of Pringles, only to find Microsoft and Sony about to dig into the heroin and hookers

Sure it might not seem like that big a deal to spend fifty dollars for the entire year on XBox Live, until you remember that both its competitors offer their online services for free. Now Iím no rocket scientist, but Iím pretty sure free is cheaper than fifty dollars. I really enjoy having fifty dollars I could spend on something else. Like maybe a video game. Or a pony. I hear you can find them cheap on eBay.
Letís recap: If you buy an Xbox 360, and have a Netflix subscription, you cannot watch Netflix on the device. You must also pay Microsoft $60 per year for Gold membership, to be given access to the Netflix on the console, a streaming video service that they already pay for.
Wii, Wii U, 3DS, PS3, Windows 8, Windows Phone, iPhone, iPad and Android, Netflix is ALWAYS unlocked for subscribers, and ALWAYS free to use just by owning the device.
Microsoft is out of line to demand a live gold account to use the Netflix app, or indeed ANY app that already requires a paid subscription.

Microsoft is going after Apple TV and smart phones, not the PS4 or Wii U
Why should PS4 fans care about it

this time the console Packs some juice and can handle Hardcore games like Battlefield 3, Darksiders etc. unlike the wii and DS.

only Playstation 3 provides the player with exclusive blockbuster titles that canít be found anywhere else. Dynamic, original series such as Uncharted, God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, Killzone, Little Big Planet, Infamous, Motorstorm, and Gran Turismo are just a few of the highly rated series-exclusives you can find on the Playstation 3. PS3 is also the home of several one-hit wonders, such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavenly Sword, Modnation Racers and Heavy Rain. While the Xbox 360 has high profile games such as Gears of War, Halo, Fable and Forza, their library of exclusive games just doesnít compare to the Playstation 3. The Wii on the other hand, has an assortment of the most memorable characters in gaming, such as Super Mario, Donkey Kong. Zelda, and Kirby (to name a few), yet as great as these games are, they still donít match up to the caliber of exclusive games found on the PS3.
Thereís not one console on the market currently that even comes close to PS3 in the exclusives department. But what about past consoles? Didnít PS2 have the biggest games library of all time? Yes, thatís true, but the quality of exclusive games thatís on PS3 is second to none. Theyíre also some of the highest rated and have helped revolutionize gaming. In fact, PS3 boasts the biggest first-party games library to date. Itís so diverse youíd lose focus trying to name them all
Best of all, online is free! While the Playstation 3 has a membership option called Playstation Plus (where you can receive discounted or free games, as well as an online storage option for all your game data), you can easily bypass this payment option and receive free online play as soon as you create an account. You can also play online with a various assortment of gaming titles with friends from anywhere around the world, and share Trophies and Messages with just a click of a button.

As the current-gen comes to a close, I finally (should have a long time ago) bought a PS3. Ordered it on eBay - and now I'm excited

wii is simple to use,ill just play games on that until wiiu drops in price.
#19 May 16, 2013
Wii U is perfect for u,and the PS3 is perfect for me. The wiiu version of bf3 is water down version of the bf3 compared to be other console versions. Nintendo had golden opportunity to put PC archtecture in video game consoles before, the other two and they didn't do it.
Nintendo need better ownership,IMHO.

GameSpotís neat next-gen twitter war site has until now been lacking one rather important feature. The actual number of supporters for each console. As you can see on the world map below the PS4 has taken an overwhelming lead over Xbox One so far. PS4 is ahead with 89% and over 16,563 votes compared to Xbox One with 11% and 2,151 votes. Worth noting is the surprisingly low support for the Xbox One even in the United States.
Xbox One will be region-locked, Microsoft confirms
Xbox One games will require a one-time activation code to use
But what if you want to bring a game disc to a friend's house and play there? You'll have to pay a feeóand not just some sort of activation fee, but the actual price of that gameóin order to use a game's code on a friend's account. Think of it like a new game, Harrison said.
What this means is that if you take a game to a friend's house and try to play the game on their system using their account, you'll need to pay. If you take it to their house and try to play it on their system using your account, you won't need to pay.

I think people need to wait until they hear the full details before really judging something. There's been a lot of rumours making things sound worse than they might end up being, but frankly it's entirely Microsofts fault for not properly clarifying how stuff is going to work, you can't just make statements that half explain something which is CLEARLY going to make a ton of people upset.
I'm hoping that at the worst it's just something similar to online passes only built into the console. Sony have already said used games would be up to the publisher, it could be exactly for the same for MS, they've just been failing miserably at explaining it, you put a used disk in, the console detects it and depending on the game it acts accordingly.
