Public Places
– Smoking shall not be permitted in any room or area in a community center while such
room is being used for children's activities. Smoking is also restricted in museums, youth group-care
homes, children's residential treatment facilities, youth
development centers and facilities, and zoos. The
adult staff members of these facilities may be permitted to smoke in enclosed designated smoking areas to
which children are not allowed access. This and other
provisions of the Tennessee Code preempt the entire
field of legislation concerning the regulation of tobacco products. Any law or regulation enacted or
promulgated after March 15, 1994 by any agency or political subdivision of the state is void.
CODE ANN.§§ 39-17-1601 et seq.(1995) & 39-17-1551 (1994)
Government Buildings –
Smoking shall be prohibited in all buildings that are owned or operated by the
state of Tennessee, except for those
sleeping rooms in state park inns and cabins that are designated as
smoking rooms or cabins. Cities, counties, and counties having a metropolitan form of government are
specifically allowed to regulate the use of tobacco prod

I other words, smoking is not allowed pretty much anywhere inside a public building, and some allow it outside, at least 50 feet away from the building. Most schools won't allow tobacco on campus.

Now that the government has cut down on smoking and tobacco use the general population is getting heavy . they now are trying to limit what you eat and drink . What would we do without government to tell us every move we make ! Sounds like we are getting closer and closer to communism . If they can take our guns then we will be at their mercy . What might they come up with next ?

Curious. The best remedy for these government clowns is an uprising.

. My wife died of lung cancer at age 50 in 2005. Tobacco has killed more soldiers than agent orange, radiation exposure experiments, LSD experiments, and bullets in all the American wars since the Civil War. Tobacco is a regressive tax, hurts the poor and uneducated who smoke more. Smoking drives up the cost of health care. Smoking kills, bed fires, Divorce (can't pay bills when you have to divert money to cigarettes). Cigarette smokers are stupid

Some advantages for banning smoking in public places would be that for one it will protect anyone who doesn't smoke, especially kids to avoid secondhand smoke. It will also help public places be less toxic and we won't have to deal with pollution and by standers won't have to worry about their health. People also wouldn't have to smell smoke when they are grocery shopping or if they are going for a walk.
