Knowing the people who work for my company I do believe someone would paint their house like that. A lot of the employees are there because something happened along their career path that led to working there. Others on the other hand don't care, don't want to be there and don't give a damn.

Okay, overall a positive article, but someone needs to give the "journalist" a clue. The caption for the picture says we have "a mix of houses, with some dating back to the 1900's." Wow, what a shock! Could someone let her know that the 1900's only ended 10 years ago? Then she goes on to describe Hog Wild as "a burger and hot dog joint". Again, a little research on her part would have been nice.
I agree with you on that. But of course, they had to go into great detail about Keystone. HA

Midlo Guy is close but not that close. I've never met hime but have met his Wife along with a few others when they had the Meeting bout the Adult Hotel going up by us. I understand He runs a lot so, who knows? Next time you see someone Jogging, it may be him.
MDW is closer and has only lived in this town for about 5 years. His Dog and mine were Friends until mine passed away a couple of months ago. His still "calls" for mine but mine is in a can on my Bookcase.

Well I can say one thing that it seems like the NWQ has the most concerned residents on this forum board, and thats a good thing..it's called being a community. I've been in this town for four years and have put a lot of money onto the inside of my house, next year I'm starting on the outside but when you look right down the street and see that dump it pisses you off. I've been in town for 4 years WW1..and little Annie loves everybody, well shes not so little anymore.

I think me and Midlo Parent would strongly disagree. Jolly homes alone makes the South West Quadrant the most sought after neighborhood in Midlothian. The only the way the northwest quadrant could be considered the most exclusive is if you include the Country Club, but it's west of cicero, so it's sort of like the fifth quadrant. The southwest quadrant has been the rock of this town. Our property values here in Jolly homes did not dip nearly as low as the other quadrants. If you guys don't get your act together we may just secede. We already have the majority of the towns infrastructure.

I have a tri-level in Jolly homes and my block is VERY neat, tidy and well taken care of. Even though I and first time homebuyer and I am the newbie on the block, the neighbors are friendly. They are mostly people who have lived in their houses for years, we all trade gardening tips and look out for each other. No crazy parties, no obnoxious dogs, no scheme-colored houses.

If anyone is rowdy, it would be me throwing my children their birthday parties.....

I worry that we are close to the rougher side of town and sometimes the Bremen kids speed down the block...we still have a very tidy well cared for neighborhood. At least my block and surrounding blocks.

the mayor lives in the N.E. section of town, the majority of homes here are valued at 135-200 grand making it the most affordable. True, my house is over 100 years old, so are my neighbors, but right on the park you can not beat that. People nuy houses they can afford, and when I bought mine (in 2000) for a mere 85,000, it was eyesore, after putting back labor new window doors central air and furnace, new gargage door, all the landscaping (which the previous owners completely neglected (with broken glass and mud all over the front and back yard) on our hands and knees to get it right. After 3 years and about 25,000 invested,(all new copper pipes and new drains aloong with a complete tearout bathroom remodel) which is a bit over the top but the wife wanted it. Now my home is valued at over 170,000, and my mortgage is under $600.00 per month, anybody have a new first home and pay under $600.00 per month on the s/w side? You do the best with what you have I think that is what this town is all about. Of course more expensive newer homes are going to be in better condition, does not take a genious to figure that one out. If you look down my block every home has done work to keep them looking decent and the leafs at this time are only in the street. 1250 sq ft ranch, 2 car attached garage and a lot and a half of prorerty, not right next to my neighbors, so privacy is nice, and riight on Midlo's biggest park for under $600.00 per month? and as far as crime goes, does not just about every part of town have at least one murder or murder invlovement in the last year? the crime rate throughout the city is pretty much even, and a special thanks to Officer Sullivan for his capture of a vandal last week, great job!

my mothers townhome in the far sw side of town pays 3500 dllars per year in taxes, my home, 1800. If I were to lose my job, we would not lose our house and could survive on part time work if neccesary, can most families that live in the "newer parts of town say that?

FYI, property values dropped everywhere in Midlothian, just as any other town, noone was immune to this. They are slowly creeping up.

I agree! We are a town no matter where you live. I remember many years ago when I would go to the Aragon Ballroom for a Concert, the "Midlo" people had it's own section up on top. It didn't matter where you lived in Midlo, it's just that we knew WHO was from Midlo and they automatically had a spot saved for them. Was it because we went to Bremen a lot of us? Can't remember but we were all Midlo people.

WW1 is spot-on... it doesn't matter where you live, we are one town... Midlothian! Each neighborhood (or "quadrant") has its own unique charachteristics and its own unique benefits. That having been said I have never considered Jolly Homes to be part of the SW quadrant, Pulaski has always been the east-west dividing line unless times have changed. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter what part of town you live in we are all part of Midlothian and need to show our pride by taking care of our property.

WW1! Spot on!? I don't think so! The classiest part of town is the country club. If anyone is going to secede, it'll be us! And just who do you think will be the new Mayor of Midlothian Country Club? That's right, yours truly. Perhaps we'll allow the NW quadrant to join us, but that all depends on weather or not Midlo Dog Walker and WW1 play their cards right. There's a lot of paperwork to be filed, and a lot of petitions to be signed. Perhaps I'll have the two of you knock on doors for me. If you're lucky you'll end up with a job with me in the New Midlothian Country Club Public works dept. When the CC is set free from the burden of subsidizing the rest of the "lower" areas with our village taxes you will see the CC and Murawsky rise again. VIVA El Club!
