Oh, the city of Blue Island already has an inspector general? Let us guess who that might be. What is needed in Blue Island is an(Official Inspector General) the same kind Chicago has to protect the citizens from corruption.

Now that Carmen and Cathy have gotten elected, the citizens of Blue Island will now be enlightened as to where this corruption is...of course, they also will find nothing

What's been especially enlightening with the "dream team" who is now running the park district, is that after all of the half-truths they peddled to the Blue island citizens about corruption in the park district and the institution of a " forensic audit" to clean up the park books, they are now comfortably settling in to politics in the style of the '80S when John Rita Sr cleaned out the city coffers. 1. They canned the audit. 2. They fired the South suburban law firm who previosly represented the district and hired the Springfield, IL firm to boost Bobby Rita's influence peddling downstate 3. They fired the existing employees and hired their friends and kids
Those who don't know their history are condemned to repeat it

I was told many of the employees who were reinstated with back pay; (even after it was suggested that was a very bad idea; in a park board meeting) Quit!

Since it was a bad idea to rehire them in the first place; I am glad to hear they are gone.

I hope the N E W employees have great credentials and have passed
A L L
of the necessary background checks!!

Thanks for the happy news that the law firm is gone; too.

The city council meetings have evolved into Circus, Circus, Circus!
It appeared as though The entire City Council had been shot with a stun gun!
At the last meeting Donnie was so annoyed by venting residents;
he spent most of the time pounding on the bench.
Very Comedic!
Great to see residents expressing their opinions!

It would be even better if we see residents taken seriously in the city council meetings.
Bobble heads should skip the meetings; because we don't want to see 100% of the council in agreement with the current self serving mayor.

I don't know what to think anymore. I guess I was raised differently, but I was always taught to see every side of every situation. Its interesting to see how people stretch the truth to reinforce their own sad distorted reality. The mayor gave the residents their chance to speak. It was done in an orderly manner. They did. They spoke. If you remember, the mayor also stated how he felt about the business trying to be established on Mozart. He was for it. He even mentioned how he had expressed this desire to the other council members. Did the other council members overturn their decision, as the mayor would have wanted? AS for the gavel pounding, it was done so as necessary. People were speaking out of turn. There needs to be order at these meetings. And it wasn't done that much. It wasn't comedic. As for being taken seriously. What is specifically that wasn't being taken seriously. I was there. Right next to the residents. I'm here for you guys but your bias is unreasonable. Perhaps your disdain is warranted by some past transgression-you need to control it. Perhaps then you will be taken seriously. Only then will there be the change you seek. You need to be that change.

Start over
Given the spectacular failure of elected officials to produce any meaningful reform to reduce the ludicrous level of corruption in our state, county and local government, let us all agree to vote "no incumbent." No matter who the incumbent is, he or she must go, for he or she has either failed to effect change or is complicit in an endless round of corruption.

Throw all the incumbents out! We couldn't possibly do any worse with a fresh slate at every governmental level.

Reform in Illinois
Given our lawmakers demonstrated inability to reform our state's government, I recommend that we, the citizens of this state, take the following steps:

-- Push for the right to recall the state's leadership positions, specifically the offices of governor, U.S. senator, U.S. representative and party leaders of both state houses. We must not give in on this need or we lose the ability to hold our leadership directly accountable for enacting further reform.

-- Establish the first recall election for U.S. Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.). I have lost faith in his ability to serve with honesty and integrity, but this should be decided by all the people of Illinois. More leaders may follow given their continued inaction on serious issues, but this decision seems the most urgent to me.

-- The help of the Chicago Tribune and other local news media will be needed to inform the voters of any progress, in order for this to work.

-- We, the people of Illinois, need to remember who is impeding progress on cleaning up the state ethically and financially, and send them home -- either as part of a general election or via a recall election.

I agree with you in this instance the mayor gave people the time to speak where were they when all permits were issued they live on that street they movement being made for the owners invested over 300 thou. as stated in the city meeting.if unable to attend the meeting why did they not contact their alderman.if you were to drive thru our neighboring suburbs there are many establishments they are in the same setting. If the object is to close this place on mozart the present owners can sue the city to recoup their losses.I have never visited the place but now aim to i do know that man people come from afar to visit this place noted for its fine food clean atmopshere these are not hardcore people or a bad elementthere The people on mozrt claim that parking is an issue thou by pictariol presentation it was evident most if not all have driveways also the establishment stated thru documentation thatt business across the street would permit them to use there parking. Such a easy solution some people just like to complicate things. I to live in busy area it was this way when I purchased my property I knew part was commercial zoned at the time. rays pizza was there and other business were there be realstic surly you did not think that would be there forever every establishment there as had a liquor permit. In this instance people on mozrt you probably fuss at the trains knowing you bought property in a town founded as a train hub that make train noise. This something i grew up with and have grown up with the noise that soothes me to sleep and the first train movement is my alarm clock to awaken
