Even with brittle bone disease, the bones don't break without some amount of pressure.

Of course these parents just loved the baby so much that they just hugged him a little too tightly.

joe read the article. It did not state the child
had this genetic defect but rather being tested.
"The infant was examined by doctors to determine whether her injuries resulted from a genetic disorder or severe fall."
The genetic disorder is in the parents. It is called CRUELTY.
But what if the test shows it is a genetic defect? You have already had them beaten to near death or death by the prison population.

Do they get to unlive that beating?

Is that rehabilating our inmates or using them like slaves to do the things we do not want to do ourselves?

I would like to know where the case coverage is?

where did this lady get the facts about the weed?

It sounds like two or three cases mixed together?

The mother of the baby was actually smoking weed at the time, leaned in to get the blunt and dropped the baby. The father was at work and didn't know anything about what was going on but once he did learn what was happening, he didn't go to the police and that's why he went down with the mother. The father stated the baby was crying all night long and he didnt know why when he first got home. If anything the mother should get the worse punishment because it's so many women out here who wants children and cant have them when ignorant women are doing things such as this. And after she dropped the baby, she threw the baby into the carseat. What a shame and disgrace. So it was completely the mother's fault and absolutely nothing else.
Sounds like you are related. I think you should
call the paper and give your side of the story.

Where are your police reports, family history reports? Screw dss reports.(overworked and never enough paper to write all the wrongs done to a baby)

BTW, are you the father's mother? Sounds like it.
You sure as heck do not like the mother of the baby.

It takes two to tango to have a baby. And two
parents are responsible whether or not you state
one was at work.

Your story sounds fishy and stinks.

""...as many as 40 bones in the child's body were broken.

Jasmine Broady, 19, and Terry Jay Lee, 24, were arrested Friday following a nearly two-month investigation into the case.

At the time, 2-month-old Shaniyah Lee had fractures to her skull, her ribs and her arms, Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Jeff Hinton said...""

I have spent the morning looking at stories on this--pretty much the same, but it appears to me that this baby was slung around a bit and thrown about.

I do not believe the lady and the weed story.
She has to be related in some manner.

Listen, is it fair to only give the parents
a $20K bond per person and let them wait at home?
Or would you not rather them reside at the jail until the court trial arrives.

The abusers ought to be happy that they are not in NY. Rikers Island is the largest JAIL in the state - criminals waiting to go to trial.
My heart does not bleed for any of them.

If the child has a genetic bone disorder, it should have been found after the child was born.

And how do we know whether the parents knew they
carried a deformed gene?

This is a can of worms. It will get us nowhere.

All I know, that the parents should be forbidden
to have the child back. And if it is proven
that there is a gentic problem, both of them should be sterlized.

Google "number of bones in children" and numerous
articles will pop up on this case.

It is easy for 40 bones to be broken in the body.

"At birth the human skeleton is made up of 275 different bones. As the body matures some of these bones, such as wrist and ankle bones, fuse together leaving only 206 bones in the adult body."

You know it has been years and years since granny here has had any wee ones about but correct me if I am wrong, that is someone that still has small ones around,at two months do babies not still have their "soft spot" on top of their heads? This little baby had already gone through a battle of tests enough to last a lifetime. I cannot fathom why in GODS name why he had not already been taken away from these parents just due from the number of bruises alone. The baby was supposed to be taken back to the dr for a checkup after being born one month later as I recall from my own children being born unless times have changed. Why did that dr not report signs of abuse then? So many unanswers...A baby is NOT like a dog or a cat that you can put a dish of food in front of and forget it,or kick it around as some people do.GOD BLESS and PROTECT THE INNOCENT....

I had to take x-rays on a child in Brevard a 4 yr
old.

She had a spiral fracture of her leg.

http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec05/ch062/ch062a....
A high-lighted part explains the various fractures.

This child had dents in her skull- no skull fractures, a Pectus Excavatum where the sternum was pressing against the heart; bruises under the chin which were finger bruises.

Both the mother and boyfriend received 60yrs and 40 yrs respectively.

The child died at Mission Hospital after the child was thrown across the room.

It was the most difficult thing to read about after I tried to help by doing the first set of
x-rays in Brevard.

Murphy, please tell me you did not type this after you thought it through. Talk about a can of worms. Are you prepared to have yourself sterlized? YOu caryy many genetic defects right now as do I and everyone else on the planet. So in the interest of the world all humans need to be sterilized in order to keep from passing on bad genes. That is best idea yet. We could have a perfect genetic world. Oh wait if all people are sterilized how do we get more people?

"If the child has a genetic bone disorder, it should have been found after the child was born."

It is typical that this diease is not found until later. It is not somthing people are looking for. There are many cases of should every day. It is easy to go back and look after things come to light. The DUKE rape case is a good example of this as well. Race drove the LIE forward people were fired and jailed but turns out she LIED.

This was just months ago. Here all th "open minded" people are doing it again. Does having an open mind make you closed minded to learning something different then you open minded thoughts?

Totally different case. This child was clearly thrown into a wall. At 4 the bones are harder and easier to break. How many bones were broken? Yet in an enfant soft bones are harder to break and we have 40. Yet the child is alive and healing. Does that not seem odd, even a little? There is more here than meets the eye. Like a sherriff that sees something and make a judgement as to what happened. He runs to the press and tells eveyone what he thinks happened.

As to whether the bond is fair or not. Innocent until proven guilty is the law of the land. I can tell you have not had "run ins" with the law or you would speak differently.

So for such low bonds, and they will be appointed
a public defender, I would hope that the dang courts let them sit in jail until trial. There
is absolute no excuse for what they did.
Let the other inmates at the jail work them over
and see how much they enjoy it.
Well as for them beening keeped in jail. They have been out. And there bonds wont 20,000 if so they wouldnt of gotten out with a 1,000 dollars. As far as the father he is just as guilty as the so called mother they were all drinking and smoking weed. i think they both should be stood up in public and break thier bones. they are sick people.

Child abuse in Roanoke Rapids is rampant. So how can you be shocked. I can not say this enough. If you know children are abused/neglected...report, report, report.

I was an abused child. People did not want to get involved. It is messy. It is unpleasant. And it can be dangerous. My mom was an alcoholic. When she was drunk she was very, very heavy handed. I knew fear. We little ones hid from her. Neighbors knew it. Family knew it. But everyone looked the other way. Why? Because it is messy to get involved in other people's business.

The child discussed in this thread did not have brittle bone disease. The child had a low life, good for absolutely nothing piece of human garbage for a "so called parent". Good God folks, quit looking for excuses for lowlife trash!
