NC man kills girlfriend, self outside daycare

Police say a man shot and killed his girlfriend in the parking lot of a Roanoke Rapids daycare, then killed himself.

I attended ECSU with Dawn and was blessed to know her. Dawn was always true to herself and had a passion for life. She has been taken away from those that loved and needed her. My heart aches for her sons and family. There are no words to express the sorrow that I feel. This senseless act of violence has left a void that can't be filled. I pray that the family finds comfort in one another and know that Dawn will be missed.

Levern will be missed too! He was a wonderful, funny, friendly well liked young man. So many of his friends and family are puzzled by what happened.I pray that the families find comfort in one another. There are two famlies hurting and we should remember that. Cruel comments should be kept to yourself. We were not a part of the two people involved lives. So we don't know what was going on. Levern and Dawn will be missed! He was a wonderful person just like Dawn. If you didn't know him you can't on him. What he did to himself was just as sad as what he did to Dawn. God Bless BOTH FAMLIES.
