I am appalled at the length of time it’s taking to clean up the ice storm debris. The Courier Journal says it’s been 79 days since the storm. Since that time I have not seen any workers trying to clean up the debris although home owners have dutifully carted branches to their curbs.
I don’t know where the clean up crews are working. Last Monday I was driving on Old Harrods Creek Road and both sides of the street were lined with debris. Tuesday I was in J-town driving on Taylorsville Road and debris was on both sides of the road and visible on the subdivision streets off of it. Later that same day I was driving on Eastern Parkway and saw the same sight. I live in Glenview and I assure you that no one has attempted to pick up the debris. Since part of the clean up costs is covered by FEMA I don’t understand why there aren’t private contractors out in all parts of the city/county cleaning up the mess. What’s going on with the City government that’s preventing this from happening? |
