Do not bother

Sure, it looks good, the decor is nice and actually the food is quite good. The service is among the worst....read on. I have been to JOIA a handful of times, several when they first opened. I then decided to give them a rest as the service seemed to have the new restuarant kinks still in it. Last Friday I decided to try again, what a mistake. We waited....we waited at the hostess booth. We were then taken to a rickety table, and I mean rickety, you couldn't eat at it. We asked to be moved and were offered the dirty table next to us....then we waited again. We finally got settled at a booth and waited again. I had ordered take out for my husband and the waiter put the wrong order in ...cheese pizza versus ham pizza. We waited and waited and finally 25 min after our meal the waiter appeared for us to tell him of the error. He took the pizza and we waited. 20 min later he brought back a dismembered pizza with cold ham thrown on top...it looked and smelled horrible. I asked to see the manager, we waited 15 min. Finally he came and described my issue to him. His response? "Do you feel better now?" Are you kidding me?? I asked to have the pizza taken off of the bill. Today, I look online at my bank account and see that I have been charged 3 times for the meal. Make the trip into Brandon to go to Carraba's. Sad when a chain restuarant will treat you better than a hometown shop. It's not that they try really hard and just don't have it together...their heart isn't even in the right place.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous post. I was hoping for a great restaurant near home. The food is good, the drinks are good the service is terrible. I gave it several tries figuring they are new. I have been there about 5 times. If you sit at the bar (not at one of the tables near it) service is OK. If you sit at a table near the bar there is pretty much no service. I figured perhaps it was worth waiting for a table. I did that twice and the service was good once. So if you don't mind waiting the food is good and the drinks are well made but expensive.

First of all this lady had no teeth and asked for a bar glass to place her dentures in while she gummed her food. When the pizza arrived at her table and she realized the crust was nice, thin New York style crisp crust she curses her server out! Also Joia doesn't carry Natural Ice in the can nor the keg so I guess that was strike two. This patron then proceeded to light up a smoke at her dinner table and refused to put it out! I guess you can take the riverneck out of the trailor but there still trailor trash!

I visited Joia Fabulous Pizza last week and my girlfriends and I absolutely loved it. The staff was amazingly friendly and the food was excellent. This place has nothing but class. This town really needed a place like this because there really isn't one like it. Very unique and tastefully refreshing. Thumbs up. Keep up the good work

My girlfriends and I decided to check out Joia Fabulous Pizza Martini Bar before a show. This place is outrageous. Everyone that works there is so friendly and helpful. The Martinis are hugh and the food is delicious. We lost track of time because we were having such a great time that we almost were late for the show. We all can't wait to go back. They have a Monday night special $5 Martinis - we're taking a cab next time.

My friends and I dined at Joia last evening. There were 14 of us and we were treated wonderfully. Our drink and food orders were filled without any mistakes. That in itself is memorable - with 14 people to deal with. Our server was super. The food was hot and delicious. In spite of our number, the service was great and the atmosphere congenial. The decor is classy and comfortble. We had a great dinner and a great time. I would definitely return to Joia.

I to have been to Joia numerous times in the past year, in the beginning it was rough don't get me wrong but it seems they have finally gotten it down. With a new chef and an upgraded staff the service finally matches the upscale environment. The drinks are fabulous and the entrees are too, large portions that would satisfy any big eater. What I love most is the ambience. It's the perfect 'date night' restaurant when you need a night away from the kids. And the best part is they take reservations so no long waits as long as you call ahead.

We travel from south Tampa for this pizza. We useed to drive to Sarasota to their sister restaurant, Gios. We LOVE the pizza- thin and crispy and chewy. None like it!! The chicken piccata, chicken marsala and vodka penne are all winners as well.

We popped in there tonight (Friday) to try the place - just driving by and spotted the sign. It looked great!

We were seated promptly. Nothing else happened after that. I mean NOTHING. Tried to get somebody's attention but were ignored. Both tables on either side of us were waited on. After about 10-15 minutes, we left, but asked to see the manager so we could let them know why we were leaving. We were directed to a teeny-bopper with the deer-in-the headlights look when we explained things. She was sorry, but that was about it. Not too crowded for 9pm on a Friday night. I can't see how they will stay in business. Oh well. After reading the reviews above, we will not be giving them a second chance.

I am a regular Joia and am surprised by the extreme differences in opinion from comments above. I can only add that I am a regular because the food is uniquely good Italian. As a regular I get immediate attention. I get immediate attention because I tip well. I tip well not because of poor service.

Met this lady Debbie there, and her friend ????

We all hung out later and had drinks. They were both so cool. I was way into Debbie, but she never called.

Oh well, at least I had an awesome meal!!

You all should try Incognito Lounge's gourmet pizzas in Apollo Beach next to Sweetbay, they are the best pizzas I have ever had and reasonably priced!

Ate dinner there tonight. We were told that there would be about a 10 minute wait when we arrived. Sat at the bar until we got seated (within the 10 minutes). We were waited on immediately and the service was outstanding as was the food. We'll definitely be back!
