We were close with the boys. I have pics of my little brother and Tyrone from the Halloween just weeks before. There is a lot more to the story than people know.

I agree with the wierd theory. James does not belong in prison!
Carrie wrote:
Becky was my cousin, It was a very tragic event. But Jamie had been in trouble before, he constantly ran away and gave his father and Becky fits. Honestly, I feel that the father was involved. It seems way to convenient to be hunting with friends in a canoe, look up the river and say "Oh, my it looks like my house is on fire". The funeral was wierd as well, the pastor could only talk about Jamie having knives and stuff...not at all what you wanted to hear at a funeral. I didn't want to hear about Jamie in any way at all.

When a judge told him (after much interrogations)he would "let him live if he confessed", James confessed..without a guardian or lawyer present, traumatized at the age of 15!What choice did he have?

I worked with Becky and she never came in to work that day , but Mike J wiley was assigned to a hospital room with guards and his poor father sat outside his room, never leaving, but crying. Poor man, he was so innocent. He never left that area in the hall.He couldnt know what to feel, and loved his son, shame on anyone who would bring the fathers name in on this at that time.

I remember it well. I worked with Becky, the stepmom and was working the night they brought Michael Wiley in and put him in a private hosp. room, his dad sat outside his door and never left. It was shocking and heartbreaking for the father, I'll never forget seeing him sit outside the room with his head hung down.

James is 35 now and furthering his education in prison, specializing in computers. If you'd like to write to him :James Wiley#16047 Wyoming State Pen. P O Box 400 Rawlins, Wy 82301....I know he would like to hear from his old classmates.I wish I had the money for a good lawyer, but was scammed already by one that took all my money and never did anything except tell me many conflicting stories, and now he is dead and I never even got the case files.Whenever I have gone to visit James, my life was threatened, so I have not seen him in a long time, since he was sent to Stone Gap, Va.in 2000.At least he calls me regularly and I will never give up on him!!

This murder was in the 90's. The little boy Willy that was killed was in my 4th grade class. I remember our teacher telling us he had been killed and I remember all of us as a class walking to the funeral together.

Unsolved crimes on TV got me thinking about several cases in WY. Shelly Wiley was killed 2 blocks east of my place when I was attending UW. Drove by that place many times after it was burned, really wierd feeling. I searched unsolved crimes in WY and they did not list this one. Of course I wonder why this is and can hardly find any information on the net on this case at all. Heard many rumors at the time, mostly related to drugs and dealers. Would love to hear more about the guy charged and then charges dropped, seems that might have been very likely but couldn't come up with enough evidence.

Actually he was at wrestling practice that morning and two of his classmates dropped him off at the end of the road and he proceeded to kill his stepmom and younger brother's. His dad was fishing on the Big Horn River and then proceeded to help him ecscape a few years later and then turned him in..... To close to home! This was very tragic for our small town!

His family called him Jamie but he went by Mike or Michael at school. Also, those who question the father hunting on the river...it was fall in a small town, and he made a good chunk of his income guiding hunting and fishing.

As a former officer at wsp I can say that although this kid is polished up doing his activities he remains a sydistic cold blooded murderer. Life is a game of chess to him. Laying and waiting to make his move again.
