City of Riverside calls for Ohio high court to hear tax case
The city of Riverside has asked the Ohio Supreme Court to hear its lawsuit against the state requesting the right to collect income taxes on civilian contractors working in Area B of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Why does the Riverside council/city manager continue to fight this losing battle? Where did Riverside get the authority to annex federal property? I understand they merged Riverside & Mad River Township in Jan 1995, that merger did not include any of WPAFB Federal Property. They need to refer to ORC 709.01 “Territory may be annexed to, merged with, or detached from, municipal corporations, in the manner provided in this chapter, provided that no territory lying within the boundaries of a military base, camp, or similar installation under the jurisdiction of a military department of the United States government, that is used for the housing of members of the armed forces of the United States and is a center for military operations of the department shall be annexed to or merged with a municipal corporation under this chapter without the approval of the secretary of defense of the United States,…” and USA Vs James H. McGEE, 714 F.2d 607, No. 82-306, Decided July 26, 1983 (United States Court of Appeals,Sixth Circuit).
