Burbank District 111 Board member David Kasper as a RESIDENT DELEGATE said that it was the prior board that approved opening Fry as an elementary building. He noted all the problems in previous contracts that cost the district millions.

I agree with Mr. Kasper. Prior and now current board Members Kriegseis,Williams,Cusack and Former Board Member Oakey all voted to make Fry a K-6.Members Smith and Skowronski didn't. With Former member Oakey resigning from the Board before the hiring of the new teachers and not voting for Weil's husband medical insurance coverage, leaves him responsible for making Fry School a K-6
Current board members Kriegseis,Williams,Cusack from the previous board need to explain their spending on the estimated cost of the following items.$1.8 million on the opening of Fry school,$400,000 annually by adding teachers to the payroll for smaller class size,$200,000 on Sharon Weil's husband health benefits starting at the age of 65 when the rest of us are receiving medicare,$200,000 and counting on the legal cost of Dr. Long,$400,000 and growing on A.C. for three schools,$100,000 lost from not renewing the busing contact and sending it to open bidding. With all of this and the additional spending their doing now including the lawsuit against Kathy Smith.(with the District paying attorney fees for both parties. Just like they did with Dr.Long)you wonder how their saving us money.
Even though some of this may help the students,In other area it hurts them like cutting programs and raising cost. Why does all of this needed to be done all at one time? would it be easier just to add one thing at a time over a course of eight years or so? Or maybe just leave well enough alone?
The three board members know they have a teachers contract up for renewal and a state funds are being cut because of the recession. So why do all this?
District 111 was financially sound in mid-2008. Two and a half years later the District is in deficit spending.
Mr. Kasper states that the current board has to clean up the prior board’s mess. But how can he do this when the current board has five prior board members on it?
I support Member Kasper and you can do. The perfect opportunity is approaching with the next election. There is three new candidates on the ballot to replace the three incumbent board members.(Frank Kriegseis,Kathleen Smith,Linda Cusack)
This will allow Board members Kasper and Zarnecki to move District 111 forward with two previous board members in Carleen Skowronski and Danette Williams.
Let's stop the blame game and make a change!!!

I went back and read the Board minutes from 1-12-11 and saw where Mr. Kasper response to Lori Morack. He said that it was the previous board that made decisions about Fry School. He said that his original suggestion was to do nothing with Fry because of the costs involved with all options.
His original suggestion was made because he wanted air conditioning for our three schools and wasn't sure if the cost of a K-6 will support it. When you read though the board minutes you will see that David was a big supporter of turning Fry into a K-6 as much as I was. He joined the Fry school committee and spoke against the Kindergarten center. He even went as far as publicly thanking an former Board member in changing his vote.
I believed in him. I voted for the triple D and back Fry as a K-6 by showing up to board meetings and supporting their cause.
I'm deeply sadden by the comments that he made and how he turned his back on his support of Fry as a K-6. What is really disappointing is how he and his fellow Board members are treating the teachers union. It make me sick to know I supported these people and I'm happy to say I won't anymore.

$400,000 a year for smaller class size. Where? I have three children attending a district 111 school. The class sizes ranges from 27 to 29 students.

This is the way I see it. I don't agree with electing the three new candidates but I do agree in replacing Frank and Linda. I can come up with another $500,000 in cost due to bad decision firing and hiring personnel, extra board meeting per month, and sending contracts to open bid but there is something else we should focus on....... How they treat employees and the residents of Burbank. The handling of the dismissal of Tom long and Fred Wagner in open session after all their years with the district,How they argue with Sue Laff in open session. they gave a 30 year teacher a candy bar for a thank you for all her years of service, even went as far as opening the bag of candy in front of her.You have principals afraid to ask for small items they may need and teachers tried of asking for them because they know the answer will be no.You have residents and teachers being retaliated on because they spoke up at a board meeting. There is the bi-monthly bashing of the prior board by Donna and Dave while the other three board members on the majority side(Linda,Frank and Danette) stay cowardly quiet. There the highly paid administration team that turned into a bunch of yes men (or women) for the board and of course there is the handling of the Teacher's contract.
Then there is Frank's negative comments about the mayor and senator and that's after the mayor donated $100 to his Boy scout troop. His bashing of teachers in the Southtown star and his website.
You have reports of the superintendent,Assistant superintendent and the Fry and Byrd principals screaming at teachers in the open at school buildings.I'm sure there is more but I think the Board needs to realize your only as good as you treat your staff and we the voters need to let this board know the we want them to treat people in a professional matter. The only way to send that message now is at the next election in a few weeks and placing the right individuals in place to make a change.

.I would like to thank Burbank School District 111 board members for allowing the Burbank Titan’s Youth Football & Cheerleading Association to use your facilities at no charge. I hope that other nonprofit organizations such as Burbank Girls Fastpitch Association and Burbank National and American Little Leagues take advantage of this unique opportunity to use the inside facilities for free. I also would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Mellenthin for getting this started and, of course, the District 111 board members for thinking about all the children in the community. It was a job well-done.

OUR THOUGHTS..... We support the board in allowing nonprofit organizations to use the facilities at no charge. Because of the connection between the Mellenthins and the board majority,we have doubts this will be given to all community nonprofit organizations....
The first reading was on 10-27-10, the second reading was on 11-17-10 and was held with no action taken. After a call to the Administration office today we were informed that the second reading was held again on 2-9-11 by Superintendent and Board President. When asked if the Titans were still using the facilities at no charge, the person had no comment. After a call to someone connected with the Titans we were told it was anywhere from 50 to 75 hours a month.
It will be a short time before the weather gets nice and the Titans move their group outside. It will be interesting to see what happens when Board Policy 8:20 – Community Use of Facilities comes up for approval. If this doesn't get approved where all Burbank nonprofit organizations can use the facilities at no charge, it will show that this board and administration is no different then any other, just different players in charge. What our your thoughts?

Did you see where District 220 teacher Lina Zayed placed her Bio the upcoming election on Frank Kriegseis District 111 teachers contract bashing website? Do you think Lina will be willing to take a pay cut if District 220 decides to open the teacher's contract to help balance their contract?

Frank always needs to ride of someone's coattails in order to get elected. His last election was Linda Cusack and this one is Lina Zayed. He's not man enough to do it on his own. I not sure if he's the Board President or the Board Wimp.

Did you notice that the board is making everyone to take a cut in their pay or benefits expect the custodian union? I wonder if it has anything to do with Frank Kriegseis's being a custodian for district 111?

He has a history of changing his mind. Look how he voted yes with the changes in superintendent office.

He vote to hire Mr. Gray,He voted to release Mr. Gray with a early retirement. He voted to hire Dr. Long. During the time Dr.Long was superintendent he voted to release Carol Kunst as principal. Then he voted to can Dr. Long and replace him temporary with Mr. Wagner. He voted replace Mr. Wagner with Mr.Gray.Mr. Gray was willing to come out of retirement to run the district but Frank was one of the board members to vote against it and hired Carol Kunst as Superintendent then he voted to release Mr. Wagner with a early retirement.Give him four more years then he will release Carol Kunst and hire back Dr. Long, telling Tom it was all a big mistake.
