PARRA said NESTOR knew the documents were forged. his the escrow officer. its not his job to know if the documents were forged or not. the process of the documents being filed are worked either way. NESTOR was the escrow officer and not the loan officer. its the loan officer's job to know if the signature's are forgued or not. you're a really smart detective huh PARRA. you know alot about escrow officers and the process of documents right. why are you so conserned with having NESTOR arrested and giving him a $455,00 warrant. is it because maybe you're friend with the woman PARRA. the woman lossing the $105,000 is probably HARRIS' girlfriend. PARRA are you hidding HARRIS so only the innocent man in the situation can be arrested and suffer. you dont even have evidence that NESTOR forged the signatures. call in the forguring experts so they can tell you NESTOR is innocent. you DUMBASS!!!!!!

its not the loan officers nor the escrow officers duty to verify the validity of the signed loan docs.. its the notary that signed the borrower, the notary is to be present at each signing, verify who the borrower is. On any normal situation, banks usually do a borrower interview, questioning the borrowers prior to fundig the loan, to verify that they are aware of the loan that they are taking, including, loan amounts, interest rate, term and payment amount.. this story is so incomplete.. they want to know if there are any more victims, but they fail to name the brokerage and escrow company..

It is not an escrow officer's duty to check for forged documents. I have personally witnessed fraud to an escrow company 3 or 4 times in the past 15 years. The people who commited fraud were well known to the escrow company. When loan documents are e-mailed directly to the loan broker and the loan broker goes out and gets them signed and notarized and then presents them to the escrow company, the escrow officer's job is to send the executed loan documents back to the lender and the notarized Deed of Trust to the title company for examination and then recording. How would the escrow officer know that these documents were forged?
The Title Insurance Company often checks and compares signatures looking for forgeries. Since the title company is insuring the lenders Trust Deed, they must be sure that the document is legitimate.

The audacity of the police to arrest the escrow officer is baffling to me. There is more to this case than what was written in this article. Didn't the lady who 'refinanced' her house have a boyfriend who took the majority of the proceeds as per a signed instruction given to the escrow company? It sounds like this Harris person and the boyfriend were in cahoots, not the escrow officer. Further, who was the lender? Who was the "broker" who sent them this loan? There are other directions that the investigators should be looking. They've been working on this for a long time and since they cannot come up with anything they arrest the escrow officer??? Surely they have checked the file and looked to where the proceeds went? Who cashed the checks? Who is really the bad guy here? Parra needs to prove something to his boss to show why he has spent so much time on this "case". So he's reaching... If Det.Parra was really concerned about this woman's loss, why hasn't he had her contact an attorney to file a lawsuit with the lender and title insurance company stating that a bogus loan has been taken out on her house?

I personally know this escrow officer and I am absolutely would not engage in anything of a fraudulent nature. He is very successful, very smart and is a family man.

It's unfortunate that writers like Lori Consalvo rushes to write a half-assed article about something she knows nothing about.

Lori, why don't you wait for the outcome of this or look more into it before jumping in to try to make a BIG article for your boss?

"Investigators think there are more victims out there." Please. If there are more victims, wouldn't they have reported this?

This is crappy writing. Period.

Did the escrow officer sign up the loan documents or were they signed OUTSIDE of escrow as most loan documents are now? As an escrow officer, we take our instructions from the principals (buyer, seller and/or borrower) and its usually via their representatives, ie; real estate agent or loan officer. Who gave the escrow officer the documents to record and the instructions to disburse? The article states that Nestor processed the loan. Someone needs to get their facts straight. Escrow officers DONT process loans, lenders and loan brokers do that. Mr. Parra says that there is no way this would have worked without him knowing. Of course it could. I personally have been a victim of real estate fraud by a long known trusted client. I have personally known Nestor Reyes for 10 years and he is a very ethical person. He doesn't live the high life driving $100K cars and live in a million dollar house. He leads a simple life of working and coaching his kids soccer teams. Who had the most to gain from the forgery? Where did the rest of the money go? Borrower, loan officer? It is the title company who issues title insurance and makes sure that signatures match. How come the borrower hasnt filed a claim with the title company or the loan brokers office for reimbursement of the supposed loss? Why is the detective so hell bent on persecuting the escrow officer? It sounds to me like Harris is missing for a reason? Is it because he possibly forged the documents and took off with some of that money? Det. Parra needs to brush up on his real estate knowledge so he can put the real criminal behind bars. As for the writer of this article Lori Consalvo, is there a reason that you didnt interview his co-workers to get the other side of this story? This article is if anything damaging to a person that I believe wholeheartedly to be an innocent victim of fraud commited by others.

It seems that wanna be detective parra doesn't have his facts straight all his going for is his friend losing her house and wants to blame the escrow officer for her loss and on the way have this rookie writer lori con to write all parra's words. I hope when this is over I would like to see what your going to write. Cause this is nonsence, this is damaging an honest mans reputation and his family. The truth will prevail and I hope parra does his real JOB and find the guilty ones.

First of all Det. Parra and Lori Consalvo you must do a research on the obligations of an escrow officer, loan officer,Broker,Lender, and Title. Before going after this man, you just ruined his life by jumping the gun. I know this man personally he is hard worker and a family man he is very ethical and professional. Just because you can't find Harris you want to hang everything on Nestor that is so wrong. I can't believe people who don't do there research before judging. Get the story straight do your Real Estate Research First Before going after the Escrow Officer.

Detective Parra has arrested the wrong man. THis is so wrong on so many levels, and Consalvo how in the world are you getting away with such poor reporting. I personally have worked with Nestor for over 10years. He is a man of high integrity and good ethical standards. You have now ruined his reputation and caused unnecessary grief to his wife and small children. Shame on both of you!
