4th of July fireworks at Mt. Rubidoux
Fireworks in Riverside are a unique tradition at Mt. Rubidoux.

Craig Fiegener reports on what it takes to keep the neighborhoods in this area safe during the 4th of July celebration.

The following information has been provided by the City of Riverside:

At 9 p.m. Friday, the Fourth of July will be
celebrated in the skies over Riverside.

The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department invites everyone to attend city Independence Day celebrations throughout the night.

The Third Annual 4th at Fairmount offers band performances, food and craft vendors, youth fun zone and a fireworks show over Fairmount Lake, 2601 Fairmount Blvd. Activities begin at 3 p.m. and the fireworks show starts at 9 p.m. The event is free except for a $5 charge for unlimited play in the childrenÂ’s fun zone.

The 4th of July Spectacular at the Riverside Sports Complex, 1000 Blaine Street, features a concert, plus roving entertainers and a fireworks show. The complex opens at 7 p.m. and the fireworks show begins at 9 p.m. Tickets must be purchased for this event. The cost is $4 per person, and children under 5 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the parks headquarters, 3936 Chestnut Street, until Wednesday and the day of the event at the stadium. No ice chests will be permitted.

Free firework shows will also be held at La Sierra Park, 5215 La Sierra Ave. and Mount Rubidoux at 9 p.m. People will not be allowed to enter Mount Rubidoux that day; however, parking on the surrounding streets is permitted.

The Rubidoux show will be simulcast on KOLA 99.9 FM.

The fireworks ended early due to several small fires on the back side of the mountain. They had to stop the fireworks to get the fire crew up there.
Sad that we didn't see more, but good that they got the fire out.

You can read the article in the press enterprise.
