This is a great accomplisment for black shoppers. We are tired of being harassed
while spending our money at these racist stores. We should boycott each and every one
of the them.

The question is, if you know they're watching you, why the hell you're spending your money there. I say boycott all Modell stores.

About fricking time. Nowdays, its not just race, but age, clothing/hairstyle and other crap that make a person targeted by the very store we spend money in. While she'll probably win on appeal, the amount will probably be far less, thanks to the morons in the NYS Injustice System.

I have been accused of stealing from two jobs...when in fact I have never stolen anything in my life and never did anything about it. I can understand her anger but she saw a chance to cash in!

Not sure about this..somehow I think that a Modells in Riverhead would have their fair share of black shoppers on a regular basis. Not sure why they singled her out if what she says is true.

Good for this woman, i'm glad she won. I hate people who are racist. No one should be deliberately targeted because of their race. These days people are targeted because of their clothes, hair, weight. It's just wrong!

I'm sure the money will be promptly squandered on many depreciating assets.

The award is a bit excessive for what happened.

Long Island is and always will be a Racist

County, I lived in Coram and I moved away from
that place for this reason, I got the same treatment at Rite-Aid, Genovese and shopping
at the different Malls, what happened to Mrs
Cruz is no surprise to me. I'm Afro-American
and I also got the same treatment from the
Police.( Remember when the Immigrant workers
got beaten up by the white Cowards?)

So she really was a shoplifter after all. Instead of stealing a jersey though, she stole $500,000.

I dont understand, Riverhead is mainly black or hispanic and I am sure that the majority of the shoppers there are the same, so...why would he target just her because she is black?

Does this mean if I go shopping in a store and get accused of shoplifting I can sue for half a million dollars because I'm blonde and I think thats why they singled me out? Was there any freaking proof it was because she was black? This is outrageous.

And if they would have asked the other customers if they needed help and not her she would have sued because they ignored her and did not give proper service just like the Denny's case. Give her a mule and 5 acres and be done with it.

I have been accused of stealing from two jobs. Both times I was fired and thrown out on the street. I have never stolen anything in my life, and neither time did I do anything about it. I think that this person saw the chance to cash in and did so. A more reasonable settlement would remove two zeros at the end of that number!!
