Pretty soon SWR will be like the rat hole that Rocky Point has become. It's coming, can you hear it?
Hable Espaniol?
Looks like you're close to Hable Espaniol than SWR will ever be...Mount Sinai is becoming retirement heaven with all of the retirement only communities springing up over there along Route 25A, but it's still a lovely area with very high taxes. Now if you're in Bohemia as optimum suggests, that's another matter all together. Thanks to the Town of Islip and MacArthur Airport, you are becoming more and more industrialized every day. Did you know that Covanta has a WTE plant near you burning 485 tons per day of municipal solid waste, aka garbage---nice. Don't be so toxic and blend in with your surroundings.

What's the matter? You don't like being downwind of Covanta? And Riverhead, as Optimium suggestes, ain't no Eden.....iffin you knowin what I means bro!!!!! Also regarding the sexual predators that are housed in those trailers in Riverhead, where do they go during the day? Just curious.....

I'd rather have retirement communities (which represent people that were smart enough to plan for their future) than the leeches of society like the ones that have infultrated Rocky Point and now SWR.

I don't like a WTE plant anywhere on Long Island (and neither should you) because of the toxins that leach into to groundwater and air, but I'd rather be 28 miles away from such a thing rather than living on top of it. As for Riverhead, it's an old city with lots of problems, but I'm probably just as far away from there as I am the WTE plant. If you like overcrowding, match box identical housing shoved in side by side, and high density living BRO, then be my guest and love Mt. Sinai. When I drive through there (and I drive through there frequently) I can only think that this is just another area that Brookhaven has screwed up. It's sad because it used to be very nice there.

As for the SWR, we are happy to pay our fair share here for our great schools. Both SWR and Mt. Sinai come in with a rating of 8 out of 10 for school excellence, while Rocky point is a 6 and Riverhead is a 5.

Bohemia comes in at with 7. I know all about the Bohemia area because I used to live there. Even with our increased school taxes, the taxes are still lower than Bohemia, and we are not overloaded with industry. As for the Mt Sinai area, the taxes there are about 40% higher than what I pay. I don't know why you dislike certain areas of LI, but it is sort of like a foot hating the leg it's attached to---we have to work together in order to maintain the quality of life here, not nit pick and be jealous of one another. To put it nicely Mt. Sinai, you're not the sharpest tool on the shelf.

Thanks for the link...I believe that a rating of 7 on one site is pretty close to your rating of 298 of 794 although it's difficult to compare. If you look by school district, then Bohemia's Connetquot SD is 204 out of 655 districts. In any case, I think most Long Islanders know where the great, good, and not so great school districts are. The point is that we all deserve great school districts, and that's what the aim should be, not bad mouthing one district or another.

No, we don't all deserve great school districts...... Only people within districts that respect education deserve it, not the people that simply drop their kids off at school and think it's a dacare center and also think that the schoool will raise their kids and teach them right from wrong........

I agree. Too much trash in Suffolk County. Same goes for illegal immigrants. Both of them are bringing this county down to ghetto levels. They should all move to California where they'll all fit in with the rest of the trashy freeloaders.

Rocky Point Union Free School District GreatSchools Rating: 7 out of 10. GreatSchools Ratings are based on test results. 10 is best.

When will the SWR Residents realize that all of L.I. laughs at them. They are W/H/I/T/E T/R/A/S/H without a clue.
Maybe the Crossan brothers will leave Sachem N and return home. Let's face it now that football season is over they're not going anywhere else!

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Leo

Today's Full Moon will affect your love life significantly during the next few months. You might have to say goodbye to someone you care about, or you may realize some difficult truths about your relationship. You may also have to make a tricky decision about a child or a creative project. Although this won't be a very easy time, don't make it worse by over-reacting and turning every hitch into a major drama.
