There is either a rubber, canvas or otherwise textile boot, that might be attached to the flight deck floor of an aircraft that utilizes a "joy stick" to keep dirt and other foreign objects from passing through the hole in the flight deck floor structure, but the stick itself is not hinged on the floor structure of the cockpit of anything other than soap box derby cars made by cub scouts for scouting projects.

That said, it's nice to see the lord accepted the sacrifice of the officer's lives in order to vouchsafe the life and security of the child in that moment.
